IS anyone here participating in quilt pink day on Sept 30th??
I threw my own quilt pink party today and we had SUCH a great time. We'll turn them in on Sept 30th.
I'll post a picture of one of my blocks i, later if anyone is interested.

I'm participating in Quilt Pink. I went to the fabric shop while visiting Ocean City, NJ. I bought the block kit they had prepared. I couldn't wait to figure out the mystery block and made it as soon as I got home. I don't think I'll be able to attend the event on the 30th at the shop though. I think I'll have to mail the block back to them.

I don't know what this quilt pink is but I'm going to ask the lady at the quilt shop I go to tomorrow and see if they are participating in this quilt pink. Is this the quilting for breast cancer?
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

I made a trip into our local quilt shop and they are participating in Quilt Pink. They are giving out white background fabric and the pattern for a 9" finished Ohio Star and you supply the three pink prints.

I wanted to use some old double pinks, but they really didn't go with the new fabrics, so I'm using more of a victorian type print.

I was a bit disappointed that something more exciting was choosen, but it is the logo for the quilt shop (no I don't live in Ohio) and is a pattern that all levels of quilters could make.

Here is the first one that I made. It was the first time I had done any applique and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. Simple, but time consuming none the less.
My mother in law is a breast care survivor and until my husband and I got together, I wasn't close to anyone that had been diagnosed or survived. I have been blessed with such a wonderful Mother-in-law that I love so much, I made this in her honor.

This next one, my best friend made. It was her first time to sew and first block she ever made. I think she did an excellent job.

It's a shame that some of the quilt shops didn't give you the option to make the block you were making the pattern you wanted.
The rules only state they have to all the be the same size. Either way, I'm glad you are participating.

Hi, I did 2 blocks a while back as part of a project a yahoo group I am in did. It was SEW much fun! The local quilt shop here is doing a quilt pink day but I knew I wouldn't be able to go. I loved the pink fabric and I cannot wait to see the finished project. My grandmother had breast cancer so it's very dear to my heart :)

Here's a photo of my quilt pink blocks. They are from a pattern called "Mrs Taft's Choice." I really liked the pattern and it was very easy to put together!!

Mine are 9 1/2" unfinished blocks. I got bored on the second one and went through my bag of homeless blocks and inserted a 3" house block (which was nice because the house was pink- bwhahahahahah must have been stucco).

The quilt shop supplied the white background and everyone was to add their own pink fabric. This will be interesting because pinks can really range in color! I found this out when trying to find a double pink that wasn't too salmon or pepto bismol (ish).

Julie, I'm not going to be in town on Saturday when they'll be sewing blocks and putting the blocks together so I'm going to drop them off at the shop today. I will be interested to see how many quilts get made.

I'm still amazed Julie how the quilting bug has hitten you! I love it.

I just finished quilting and binding the lap size quilt Patchwork Plus of Marcellus, New York will be donating to Better Homes and Garden. Local quilters made 9" Ohio Star blocks and the result was three quilts - one large and two lap size. The quilt shop received seventy blocks for the quilts.

I piped white cotton before I bound the quilt and it took five spools of Mettler silk covered cotton for the quilting.

I couldn't get my PhotoSite to print the quilt information so I will try to get that with the photo later.

Judy, the "wonky" setting (you picked the most appropriate name!) was used because some of the blocks were not exactly 9 " square. Doing the wonky setting enabled the points on the blocks to be left intact while recreating the blocks to uniform sizes.

The wonky goes with the bright pink and I machine quilted flowers and circles throughout.....kind of a '70's feel to it.

In my first beginner quilt class, I made a 6 block sampler and that was my instructors term...for making "wonky" borders around the block. It was also a setting used in one of the Fons & Porters quilt mag.

When we did the signature block swap that was what everyone was referred to since not everyones blocks were exactly 12.5".
