Thanks!

I have one but have never used it. Most people who have say that it is just as easy to pin the hat in place in the hoop and embroider. I suspect they are right. Mine was horribly expensive (quite a bit over $100.)

when I used to do hats on my ULT, I just pinned them in place... make sure you have your stabilizer hooped very tightly and either use sticky stabilizer or spray adhesive and then pins... just make sure you keep the pins out of the stitch area... Also....make sure you use unstructured hats... I've tried doing the structured ones this way... and its a real bear... good luck... keep us posted on how it goes...

Thanks for the info.
I'll have to give it a shot. I want to make a hat for my daddy that says
"Fish shiver at the sound of my name"

Is him. =o)

Stef, you can do hats caps without the cap hoop by using "Sticky" stabilizer but it is a whole lot easier with the cap hoop

I have some sticky that I bought the day I got my machine. I'll get some cheap hats to practice on before I go and buy the hoop

Stef, here are some tips. Insert the "Sticky" in your hoop with the backing still on it face up. Score the backing around the inside of the hoop and then peel the backing off. This way you won't get the sticky residue on your hoop. Peel the sweatband back under the brim to get it out of the way. Fold the cap in half to find the center of the cap and mark it. Open the cap and press it firmly onto the "Sticky". Position your embroidery and sew.
If the cap has a sponge front or is of a material that will allow the thread to sink into it be sure to use "Solvy" or some other top stabilizer.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom
