Well, 59 blocks later and countless hours, I finished Elizabeth's Sweet 16 quilt last week and gave it to her last Saturday. Her b'day was actually today but she had her party with her friends last week. I wanted to give it to her then b/c alot of her friends are on there from different points in her life. I hand quilted it and that took a bulk of the time. Some of you will recognize some of the FQ's!! Incidentally, the Bug swap was perfect b/c Elizabeth loves ladybugs and all kinds of cute bugs so the timing was great! I used alot of FQ's and really only purchased the backing (pink and white polka dots,) the batting, thread of course, and then some of the COC fabric but I did have alot of that also. I used photo fabric to transfer the fabric and I really liked that alot. I wrote on alot of the blocks memories of her which don't show up that well but all and all, it turned out great. I think she was VERY surprised. She told my mom that she thought I should do her one for her 17th b'day of this year. Trust me when I say, I am having a hard time getting over her turning 16. I'm not NEARLY ready for 17! I have been MIA trying to get that done and then this past week playing catch up not to mention I stay busy on a normal routine. I hope you guys are all doing well! Debby--again, thank you for intruducing me to my new addiction!!! I am now looking for a local guild! Julie

Julie,

The quilt is WONDERFUL! I'm particularly taken with the paw print, but I just love all the bright colors. If this quilt reflects her personality, she must be one happy kid......oh, I mean young lady.

Great job

Congratulations on the gorgeous quilt Julie, I bet your daughter loved it. You are SO VERY WELCOME for the introduction to one of my very favorite addictions,,,quilting...yeahhhhhhhhhh....I truly love handquilting. I was just upstairs, while watching my favorite Extreme home makeover, handquilting a crib panel for my daughters sister in laws new baby to be born next month...I just find it so relaxing...You would laugh when I tell you what I sat at....my ironing board. Hey whatever works right?:nah: :nah:

Thank you all!! Debby--I sit where I'm comfortable!!! I would love to see a picture of the quilt!!
Patty--the tiger paw--well, Elizabeth is a cheerleader and the football team is called the "tigers." That's where the Tiger Paw came from! The star that was supposed to be in the middle (but ended off WAY off center) is from a Bible Study and quilt I'm working on called "52 Women of the Bible" and that is the block for the week we study Elizabeth. It's called "Aunt Eliza's Star." Elizabeth means "God is my Oath" and I have that written on the blocks next to the star. The pattern for the entire quilt is phenomenal and I'm doing it in batiks (of course way behind on it but I'll catch up.)
