Hey youalllll ! That's how we greet one another here in Alabama. My name is Judy, and I was actually born in Illinois. LOL. I am nearly 65 yrs old and have been sewing since I was 10. I got started in 4-H club and haven't stopped!! I also love to craft, ribbon embroidery,do some beading and love to cook and bake.( maybe that's why I'm overweight !!!) I used to love plastic canvas work, but my arthritis put a stop to that. BOO HOO.
I am married to my second husband 31 years. Between us we have 5 grown children.( 4 boys and a girl) We have 8 grandchildren. What fun !!! Only 3 live near us, so we miss the others. They live in Wa. state. Too far away for my liking.
My favorite thing to sew right now is purses and tote bags. I like making the Crazy Quilt purses designed by Barbara Randel. I even sell them to friends and at a senior's consignment shop.
I am a Christian and active in my small church. We are building a church within the next year.Yeah!!!!--Hope to get to know some of you better. I love this site!!!

I am a retired English teacher and the wife of a retired minister. We live in Horizon City, Texas--just outside the city limits of El Paso. I can't remember the age at which I started sewing, but the first things I made were for 4-H Club--probably hemming dish towels. I began sewing garments for myself because I have always been very small. At 5 feet one inch, I never weighed more than 95 pounds, and when I was younger, there was no pattern or garment for the small woman. I am 82 years old and have been married for 60 years. We have five grown children, 13 grand children, and 12 great grand children. I have both a Janome 11000 and a 10000 machine. I try to make something for each offspring for Christmas each year. I love embroidery, quilting, and garment sewing.

I was hoping for something like this. I'm 57, and both hubby and I are retired. We live in a residential area of a small city, near Montreal. The neighbourhood is mostly French-speaking, so finding English speaking sewing buddies is amazing. (I can speak and read French though). I got married to new hubby last Xmas (hoorah!). I am Plus, but fairly athletic, and curvy, with lots of ins and outs. So fitting has been a big challenge. I sew for fun, and only for me. I used to sew for others, and, originally, have a Fine Arts background. I adore clothes, and began to sew at 2 1/2, with a darning needle, for dolls. By 10 I was sewing for myself. In my previous incarnation, as a lower income Mommy, I learned to be very resourceful, and a great fan (out of necessity) of "thrift shops". In this area there are many, usually run out of churches, and, wonderfully, many have "fabric rooms". This means patterns (yes, vintage too), and notions, and larger remnants, and pieces of fabrics. Being so curvey, I pretty much have to redraft everything (check out Barbara D.'s fabulous Plus sewing book. And, I blend patterns. I love vintage-type looks, and also sporty and comfortable. Wonderful site, and tremendous articles, SOOOOOO helpful and inspiring. Rockets me out of any and all sewing slumps.

It was nice seeing there is another Alabamian among us. I live in Ozark, Alabama and my name is Dianne. If my math is correct, I learned to sew 43 years ago. I was introduced to sewing in my first Home Economics class like many of you. Sewing didn't interest me a lot at the time. After becoming an army wife and having our first and only child, I became reacquainted with the sewing machine. My husband of 39 years, our Son, and I were stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina in the late 70's. It was there I had a wonderful and definitley inspiring sewing instructor named Kay. I must credit Kay for my love of sewing. Throughout the years I have never stopped learning and appreciating the craft. I have learned from some of the best in our sewing industry, Nancy Zieman, Clotilde, Kaye Woods and many others. One day in the near future, I hope to attend the Martha Pullen School. For 8 years, I taught quilting and craft classes at our local army post. I designed and won a national magazine contest with my "Ladybug" back pack. I truly love to sew. I look forward to sharing that love of sewing with all of you.
