Yes, I cross stitch and am just getting back into it after being away from it for sometime.

Time is just what I was missing as being the mom of 2 growing girls, most of my time was spent volunteering at their elementary school. Now that they are in high school, am finding that I have more "ME" time.

I've done a few smaller things. Nothing major like my SIL though. She does all the Mirabilia tons of color designs. Of course, it probably helps that she owns a cross stitch shop!

I like to do Christmas ornaments because they go so quickly!

hello cross-stitchers, i have never tried stitching christmas ornaments, are they hard to do? I am doing a series of designs by Diane Graebner, they are all based on Amish scenes and they are great to do, not too tricky so i can still watch tv!What are you all stitching just now? I am looking for a large design next, but haven't seen anything to grab my attention yet.

This is one my SIL did:

http://www.stitchstash.com/Sleeping_Beauty.jpg

That would take me about 20 years! She's done several of these big designs.

The ornaments I'm doing are just little pictures (of stockings, reindeer, snowmen, etc.) that go in little frames. Really cutesy, nothing fancy. I like them because I can grab one and do it when I have a little time (I brought a few for the plane ride we just took)

GreenDragonLady, i just loved your SIL stitched piece. It must have taken her ages. This is the kind of project i am thinking of tackling next(full of good intentions!) something to last me through the winter.Your photo's are great, especially the dog,( i have a cocker spaniel,) and the piper, but i would think that as i am Scottish!

Thanks, pamanne! I wouldn't recommend a bagpiper in the house, though. Especially a brand new house that doesn't have curtains or lots of furniture to absorb some of the sound!

This is my SIL's site: www.stitchstash.com She did have a brick and mortar store, but unfortunately wasn't making enough to pay the rent, so she just runs an internet store out of the house now.

I have a couple of the Mirabilia designs to tackle, but like I said, they'll take me forever!

Your sister does beautiful work. I do NOT have the patience for it. My daughter did a design of bleeding hearts and a humming bird. It is awesome and hangs in my dining room.

My mom doesn't have the patience either. But she paints and knits and weaves.

I'm glad you have a beautiful piece from your daughter, Mary!

Beautiful!

Idiot that I am, I have not done much CS'ing before, but I am anxious to tackle some Ukrainian designs (as well as my native Polish designs) to stitch 'rushnyky". For those who are not familiar, in The Ukrainian Catholic Church, they are light towels made of linen or aida (spell?) cloth, that have certain flowers, trees, birds, etc. all with a folk meaning. They hang over Eastern Icons to keep them clean, and to remind us of the mantle of protection we are under. The designs are beautiful, and each cross stitch reminds us of the cross of Christ, which to meditate on, while stitching. For those who are Christian, it is a beautiful witness, and a labor of love. For those who are not, it is a lovely look into our faith, and also provides some additional designs to stitch for napkins, etc.

Adrienne, those designs are beautiful, thank you for sharing the link. Are those done in the traditional cross stitch or some other stitch?

It is hard to tell from the pictures, but the text seems to refer to traditional CS. It looks like there might be some other embroidery in some, perhaps to fill in some areas. But, trad cs is the basic concept used by most Ukrainians for this purpose. - Adrienne

Hi. My name is Tammy and I am a cross stitchaholic.

I am so excited to start on some patterns I just got at my local needleshop. You can also find them here...
http://www.carriagehousesamplings.com/newdesigns.htm

I got Birds and Mary Margaret. I just love their designs!

Currently I am working on a lilac kit from Eva Rosenstand which I hope to have completed for my mother's birthday in JUNE!!!!

I'm also excited to get started on a 1830 sampler by Permin of Copenhagen done all in blue cross stitch...

Thanks for letting me share my new sickness...

Nice patterns! Yes, there's no cure for cross-stitchaholism...except to stitch more! Once my sewing room gets back in order and everything is in place and accessible I'll be able to do more. Right now my room is spread all over the house.

I'm new to Sew What's New, and love all the forums/threads here. I'm a quilter, but also love cross stitch.

I've got several projects going, just can't see to stick to one, my eyes are bigger than the time I have to do it all, LOL.

One project is a snow scene which is more like needlepoint, in that every single square is stitched, though most with a half cross stitch, which does make it easier. But the chart is a nightmare for my aging eyes!

I don't think I ever would have bought this, but my DH gave it to me as a gift, having no clue as to the magnitude of the task!

Pamanne, I'm getting acquainted with things Scottish, my daughter is dating a young man from Scotland...if it's called dating when they've only been on the same side of the Atlantic about two months total in the last year and a half...they manage fine with Skype, email and the telephone. He's delightful, a really nice young man, and I love to hear him speak, he doesn't think he's doing anything wonderful just talking, but to me it's so musical and lilting.

My best friend who is a really avid cross-stitcher is already planning what to stitch for them as a wedding gift, I think she's ahead of us all here! :)
