Hi Everyone. I just started sewing last year, and am using my Mom's machine. Works great, but I am missing the manual and the button foot. Was wondering if anyone had the manual? Or knew how to use the button foot (I bought one). THanks for your help: |

Any sewing machine dealer should be able to get the book for you. The 247 book is also the same book. Did you mean the button sew-on foot or the buttonhole foot?

Your buttonhole foot should be a clear foot with red lines runing sideways and another running up and down. 1. set the button on the fabric and mark the top and bottom of it. Then connect the marks with a vertical mark. This will give you an"I" where the buttonhole should be. 2. Place the fabric under the foot lining the top mark up with the top of the "I" and the center mark on the foot with the vetical mark of the "I" 3. Set the stitch width at the widest setting. 4. Set the needle position lever in left position. 5. Set the stitch length in the "fine" range.(between .5 and "0"). 6. Set the tension at 3 1/2. 7. Take a few stitches to make the upper bartack. 8. Set the stitch width at 2 1/4. 9. Sew until you reach the second horizontal mark. 10. Set the stitch width back to the widest and take a few stitches to make the lower bartack. 11. Set the stitch width back to 2 1/4. 12. Turn the handwheel until the needle decends into the fabric on the right hand side of the swing. 13. Pivot the fabric around and sew back to beginning line. 14.Turn the stitch width to "0" and take a few stitches to lock it in. 15. You are done. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't. If your stitches are too close together or too far apart adjust with your stitch length until you get the effect you want. If you don't have enough cutting space between sides reduce your stitch width from 2 1/4 to 2. Have fun or don't do it, Tom
