I spend too much time here -- the rest of my time I spend sewing (or, unfortunately, working).

I've learned alot from several sewing forums from all over the world. I'm a fabricholic and must attend meeting with others like me.It's great to be able to talk sewing with others.

The newer fabrics, patterns, notions and sewing machines of today took some getting used to but having experts all over has assisted me to increase my skills further than any other tool I could get my hands on.Because we have so few fabric stores in my area the internet has helped me build my stash too.We can spend alot of gas money to travel 70 miles round trip or pay shipping charges that are often considerably less.

Nooooo.... you don't want to know! Soon you'll be spending all your time reading all the fabulous info out there and won't have any time to sew!

I've lurked on other sites, but I'm another piece of the furniture here. This is home for me. I honestly feel a bit guilty if I start checking out other places, like I'm sneaking around behind Mary's back (LOL). Really, no where else has given me the info and the friendship that this place has.

Yep another piece of the furniture here. Have joined one other forum but it is mainly for quilters since I am more of a quilter than a sewer...although I have sewn my clothes (not perfectly) in the past and often provide web links for other sewers.

Don't lurk on any other forums. This is the site that is home to me and you're treated like family...can joke or be serious...depending on the posts. Yeah....Mary & SWN!!!

A piece of furniture here too. I do belong to some Yahoo groups that are specific to my machines or embroidery software but for all my sewing, quilting and parenting advice needs this site is more than adequate.

As far as other sites, I am on a couple Yahoo quilting groups that I enjoy and one other message board specifically for quilting. I have learned so much from all of these ladies (and gentlemen!) Julie

I visit and post a on several forums but SWN is my favorite because it deals more with my type of sewing. A lot of the others are more geared to embroidery or quilting or info about software and machines and that is fun...but my first love will always be sewing...besides, the people in the group are great and we have a wonderful hostess!

Hey everyone! Hope you're not all as busy as I've been the last couple of weeks. Sure does make time fly when you're busy whether you're having fun or not. Like most of you here, I'm a piece of the furniture, a really old piece of furniture, by the way -- been around here what 5/6 years now Mary? Anyway, this is the best run board and best group of sewists/quilters on the web in my opinion. I've belong to several other boards also but none of them feel like home like SWN does. Thanks Mary for a great site to belong to.

I agree that these are the best forums on the net. I visit others but less and less frequently. These are so well organized (Mary is an artist), easy to use, helpful and friendly. I hate those forums which seem to be made up of a few individuals who have so much to say on everything, and those who have to respond to every message. Tho sometimes feel I do here!! - cause I like all the people and the topics!! :nervous:
If you want to check others out type 'sewing' or 'quilting' 'forums' or discussion lists. One can learn a lot on other forums, if you are selective and know what you want. You'll be back.

This is the only sewing site that I post on. I've lurked on a few others, but this is the only one I check on almost everyday :). The only other forum that I visit daily and post on is a parenting site. Both that forum and this one are the only two that I find so warm and welcoming. I've seen some where the people can get so nasty, I don't return to those. I know that I'll be coming here for as long as I'm welcome :bg:

As everyone says, this is a friendly bunch...but I think what I enjoy the most about this forum is the way people can laugh at themselves! There are a few members...who shall remain nameless...who can make a quick jibe at another and it is taken the way it was meant...in jest! This is part of what brings me back...to see who is poking fun at who (or whom???).
