My D is getting ready to be 5yo and I was thinking we really should make a trip to Disney world in FLA with her. I have been surfing and shopping looking for decent prices and trying to get reviews on where to go. I figured I would ask y'all since this is such a deep pool of knowledge!! I am planning for next november before thanksgiving(my D birthday is nov 19th) I will have the baby my hubby and my grandmother all with us. I know I want to do magic kingdom, and universal studios. What other suggestions are there. I had two friends go last year and said the animal kingdom was a bust and not to bother. I was looking at the disney sports hotel to stay in, but I am not stuck on that one. It will be too chilly for the kids to do water parks so that leaves them out. Any Ideas or suggestions would be great.

Also airline suggestions because I will have a jazzy and a baby with me!!:nah:

Make sure you get the meal plan with your tickets it is well worth the price. You would not believe the food prices there. I enjoyed Epcot or how ever you spell it. MGM studio was fun. For the little one get the character dinner or breakfast. Breakfast with a princess is fun. Take a potato head box and you can fill it up it is also a quiet winding down game for the kids. We are waiting for Lizzy to turn 6 before we go again. As for the animial saffari I would suggest a private tour on it there is longer time spent with the animials.

Be careful of the motels at Disney. I saw on CNN where people are getting bit by bedbugs.

Hi:
We normally go every year for two weeks. We didn't last year as I had a baby but feel free to ask me any questions.

First off, go to mousesavers.com and read anything and everything. There is no better place to find deals on Disney and get great information.

I, personally, like the moderate priced Disney hotels more than the budget ones but it depends on how much time you'll actually be in the room. We own a three bedroom timeshare so we are quite spoiled. I can't imagine staying in a hotel room with my three little ones. You might want to consider renting a timeshare so that you have a washer/dryer in the unit as well as a full kitchen. We save so much money by eating breakfast in our unit.

As much as I am Disney obsessed, we enjoy SeaWorld more. It's a slower pace and less busy. Plus, if you go to customer service after you get through the gate, they will usually give you another day for free.

I have to agree that Animal Kingdom is my least favorite park but it does have one of the very best shows, The Festival of the Lion King (check to see if it's still running). Animal Kingdom is only a half day trip for us but if you've never seen the shows, you could make a day of it. The animal encounter shows are rather fun. I also hear that they have added a new rollar coaster.

Anyway, I could go on and on so ask away if you have any specific questions. I don't know where you live but SouthWest Airlines is always the cheapest fare for us!

I am in SE-VA and we are not but a few hours away from the best zoo in the states, LOL, the DC zoo. The people who didnt enjoy the animal kingdom said DC was way better and the price is right (free)! I want to try to fly out on a friday and come back the next sunday afternoon so we will have 8 full days to play around. I was looking at the meal tickets, and that would be great for my GM and D. I know that the disney hotel will put ballons and a card from a character in the room for a childs birthday and I really want to do the princess dinner. I am thinking two days universal, two magic kingdom, one MGM, and one epcot. That will give us two days of rest some where in there where we can enjoy FLA some. I will definetly check out the web site, I have just been cruising disney and travelocity.

Thanks for the input!

My friend and I took my DD and her two DD (1, 7, and 8). We got a great deal in April for $200, this included airfare and hotel (not in Disney, but we were never there. It was 10 minute drive to disney) We got advice from a Disney travel ageant friend of ours. We flew in Friday and went to the Dinner with Mickey, to get there fix right away. Then the next day we went to Daytona Beach. Then the next day we went to Magic Kingdom. The travel ageant had told us to be at Toontown right before 10am (that is when that portion of the park opens) and the characters come out and greet everyone. We were right there and the Princesses (three of them) came out and greeted everyone, taking our girls hand and led them up to picture taking area. Two years later they are still talking about it. For meals we brought a small cooler (throw away kind bought while down there) with snacks, bought a small lunch at the park and then left the park for dinner and came back for the fireworks. The girls had a fun quick trip of Disney, they just wanted to meet the characters (we met all but Ariel). Then the next day we went home. In total counting airfare I spent $350. (1 and under free airfare, 3 and under free to get into the park, and she just ate off of my plate for most meals) We had packed a picinic the day at the beach. Hope any of this helps

Wow, Just incase any one else is thinking of disney that
website is great!! I also had a friend recomend another one that updates you on what rides are down and the weather.
www.mousesavers.com
www.allears.com

Both are great for trying to plan. I still have a year but I atleast have a good Idea of what I want to do and about what its going to run us. The PBJ advise was awesome and since my D can eat that all day, every day I will be planning on using that. I am trying to figure out how to make a bag for the stroller so I can utilize its shoulders while we are there and not mine! If I come up with anything I will post it. I cant wait and its over a year.

Keep the suggestions comming, I am printing them out and putting them in my disney planning book!!:bg:

Stephi, Disney is great--I always love it, but just down the road at Sea World, we have always found something there for everyone. It's accessible (physically and intellectually) for all ages and interesting, not too tremendous to "take in" in a single day, and sometimes it's nice to take a break from the Mouse for a little spell. Animal Kingdom...does not try to pretend it is a zoo. If you're thinking of a zoo, then go to San Diego. It is large though, and can be a big tiring trek, even for the grownups. They do make some nice accommodations for people with babies--a nursery building where you can feed your baby in private, even give it a nap if you need to, buy formula/diapers if you've run out. Very accommodating and clean as well.

Loved the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.. Also Loved Sea World.. Universal Studios wasn't there then..78 , I think for MK and 8? for Epcot.. Sea World both times.. We always just got a place after we got there.. Lots of good ones around Orlando.. I suggest to get a place like Holiday Express with the great free breakfast areas.. They have something to suit everyone, specially the children.. That saves a bundle.. We kept a cooler stocked with drinks and lunch items, and ate a good dinner each evening..
