Hello,
My name is Nell and I live in SW Louisiana. I sew a little, quilt a little more and enjoy both.
Other than sewing and quilting my husband and I spend as much time as possible riding. So Harleys are my first pasion.
We live on 5 acres out in the middle of nowhere. Almost 45 minutes to any decent shopping. I love the peace and quiet. My husband swore when he retired from the Navy he was living as far away from prople as possible I think he found it..
We have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren.
Nell

Welcome to all newcomers and thank you all for introducing yourselves. I may be wrong but it seems that there are more people that live on the mid eastern and south eastern side of the continent, aside from those from other countries, which I love to see.
Mary, have you ever considered mapping out where members live ..... in your spare time of course! :dave:

Hi Nell and CKmom,

Glad to see some of my Louisiana neighbors joining the group. There are several of from down here. You're going to love this place. The people are warm and friendly and you learn so much from everyone. Not just about sewing but about life in general. I moved out in the country after Katrina, it's a big adjustment for me I am orginally from a place called Chalmette just outside the New Orleans city limits. Welcome aboard!!!
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

My nephew just got a job with Lockheed in New Orleans. I told him as soon as he got settled, that I'd make a road-trip to see him. It's his first job out of college and he's thrilled. You never know ladies, I just might pop up in your corner of the world!
Peggy

So little time, sew much to do...........

Tell your son to watch where he goes in New Orleans right now. The crime rate has doubled now that more people are coming back there. check out www.nola.com it's the Times Picayune newspaper. Let me know if you make your way down here if I can get away I'll try to meet somewhere for :coffee: and beignets.

Hi Nell & welcome! Glad you could join us!

I too see a trend to the midwest as opposed to Eastern and Western states. Love all of you can join us from out of the country too!

But thinking of Susies comment about crime in New Orleans. I got a phone call last night from my son who was in New Orleans on the second of 2 days off. It is the first time he has been back since the hurricane (he travels the world with rock bands and other live entertainment). It was very windy when he was talking to me. He said that the rebuilding is going very quickly but as it is all new the quarter tends to look a bit like a theme park. He did say that the restaurants hadn't changed the quality of food and are heavenly.

From my lofty position in the top half of the continent I have never really been able to place who lives where in New Orlean and if people live in business and party areas. In fact, I can't even place New Orleans in the US - how ignorant! My cousin and her husband write wonderful travel letters and sent some from New Orleans 2 years ago with lots of impressions of architecture and FOOD. They are also comitted museum powlers.
