Drooliette (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/<email address removed for privacy>/slideshow2?.dir=/26a3re2&.src=ph&.beg=0&.spd=2) I know, I know. It's about time. Still haven't found the digital camera but I did get a new cell phone with a camera that I can hook right up to my computer and upload the pictures. So enjoy the pics I will add more, I am sure. Gina

Large Oh yeah!!! 45 lbs. and still growing. Vet says she should max out around 60-65. Small for a lab but huge for me. The biggest dog I have ever had was my 40 lb. Cocker Spaniel. Before him was a Yorkie mutt (maybe 7 lbs. wet). I am making several changes to my sewing room to try and make room for her. She is a very well behaved dog and learns quickly. Not near as stubborn as my Moose was. I do say though that my shoulders are killing me from trying to teach a dog this size the proper way to walk on a leash. Gina

Pudge, if she doesn't take well to a collar and leash, try a harness and leash. Patsy Patsy

OMG, I'm in love! She's gorgeous! Try a "Gentle Leader" if you're having trouble with her pulling. Believe me, (my little girl is 42 lbs and my big boys are 120 and 123 lbs) I've tried all methods of control. Give Drooliet a hug from all of us. She's one lucky girl. Lennie |

Thanks Everyone I think she is beautiful myself. Now ya'll know why I fell in love instantly. That Gentle Leader thing, can we get rid of it once she is behaving? She already has a collar to hang all her various tags from and a harness for buckling in the car. I don't really want to add another collar into the mix. Gina

She's beautiful! 65 lbs. will be the same size as my yellow lab. She's the more delicately featured lab like yours instead of the blocky one. We use a harness for PJ when she's on the leash. If it's just her collar she pulls too much. That's the only thing she's not good at. We need to go to leash training. photos.yahoo.com/greendragondesigns

Hi Gina, To answer your question, yes you can stop using the gentle leader once you've got her behaving. Dogs respond to it very well and it's a lot more humane than tugging on her neck and other types of horrible contraptions. There's also a type of harness that wraps around the front legs and under the armpits. It's also effective and doesn't hurt them at all. I have one with fleece covering on the parts that go under the arms but not all come with that. It's easy enough to make coverings though. I found that one cheap at WalMart. Good luck. Why am I thinking you'll end up with a Romeo for her one of these days????????? Lennie |

I would love to have a Romeo but hubby has a one dog rule. One of the conditions when I married him was that I cut down on the "livestock". So I found homes for my fishies and kitties and was down to just my dog and a bunny when we got hitched. When we moved to Germany bunny had to find a new home. 9yrs. after we married I now have 1 dog, 2 cats, 3 hermit crabs, 12 fish and plans for another fish tank and ds #1 wants a hamster. Maybe when my Sweetie (14 yr old kitty) moves on to the after life I can start working on him about another dog. I won't get anymore kitties. Turns out that somewhere along the line I became allergic to cats.

Gina - I remember reading that you said you needed to find a way to block off your sewing room for the new pup, but that the opening was bigger than a single door width. If you haven't found a solution yet ---- http://www.hammacher.com/publish/72921.asp?promo=QSearch Saw it while browsing through some random catalog and thought of your post. Figured I'd share my find Hope the training is going well! |

Thanks Andrea. I did find a solution though. I bought a wardrobe to put my fabric in that pretty much blocks off that doorway and then I opened up the single doorway and put up the baby gate to keep her out. I literally did it that exact way so I was blocked in the room for a time while I opened the other doorway. I had shelves full of stuff blocking it. Why I didn't think to open that doorway first is beyond me. Gina
