I moved this here from "Introduce Yourself"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think a Sat would be wonderful. I'm up for going where ever you guys want. When you live out here you are used to driving! Do we want to meet for dessert some place or for lunch? We might want to meet around 2 or so when the eateries clear out so we can be "loud", although I can't imagine that we would be LOUD.

Sounds GREAT to me Pam and Patsy. 2:00 ish would be perfect. Just let me know where!!

There are several decent places in the new center on 29th Street/I-40 where we could meet and have a full meal or just dessert. Midwest City is kind of central to the eastern, western, northern and southern burbs of OKC. But I'm game for wherever in the City.

There are also several on 240 starting at Santa Fe...close to I-35 and I-240 but not close to I-40. (I was also thinking that it would be close to B's Sew In, Bernina, Hancocks and if it is still around, that Pfaff store on Western (?). There's Johnnies and Pioneer Pies that come to mind right away.

Of course, there are tons of places on the North side too! How do we decide and how to we get the word out?

I do not know how to get the word out either. I was thinking about that yesterday. I do not know anyone else on the board that has said they are from OK, but if you know of someone maybe we can PM them.

MWC or I-240 are fine with me. Anywhere is really fine. I am just looking forward to getting together. How does the 2nd Saturday in November sound?

The second Saturday in November is the 11th right? That's fine with me and north, south, east or west is fine also. Like Susan, I'm just looking forward to meeting everyone. By the way, I'm not a "Sooner", I belong to the "Cowboy Nation". Go Pokes!!! How about starting a new thread called Calling All Oklahoma Residents and just tell them to pop in and let you know what part of Okie Land they're in, if they're interested; see who logs on and make plans from there. And yes, Pam Fun to Sew is still down on 74th and Western.

I was just thinking that if we went to that side of town there were several shops, even Thompsons and Helen Enox. Most of the people who live "out" like to do several things when they make it to "town". That was the main advantage I saw to the south side plus the fact that they had good pies if someone just wanted a slice of pie or fries and a soft drink. Of course there are a lot of places on the North side, just not as concentrated.

Hey Pam!! I am ready to go - have had it on my calendar for a couple of weeks. I do not care where we meet, I am not very familiar with the 240 area or MWC so ya'll will have to pick. I can't wait!!

Okay ladies pick a place. If I'm able to walk, I'll be there. I have to go to Helen Enox on the southside sometime this weekend, either tomorrow or Saturday to look for a 22" dark burgundy zipper for the velvet dress I'm making for Christmas party I dh and I have to attend on Dec. 15th. So let me know.

Ok - like I said, I am not familiar with the area. I mapquested Helen Enox and it is 1/2 between Penn and Western on 59th. I looked through the OKC resteraunt guide and found nothing in that area. Someon had originally mentioned Pioneer Pie

http://www.pioneerpies.com

It appears to be not too far from Penn on I-240. Would that work well with your plans Patsy (and why aren't you walking?)

If everyone is agreeable - do we want to meet there at 2:00 for pie and chat?

It really does not matter to me - I am limited on my suggestions for that area.

Pioneer Pies suits me -- albeit another 10lbs at least!!! LOL I'm not walking well because the Orthopedic thinks I have either a herniated or ruptured disk in my low back and I'm living in almost constant pain now whether I sit, stand, walk, ride, etc. However, I stayed home yesterday I was in so much pain but I managed to get a portable changing pad finished for my niece. I have learned to sew through the pain.

I think that Pioneer Pies would be great! I love strawberry pie (if I can get it). It is also right in the heart of the sewing shops and not hard to get to from Helen Enox.

My2girls, Pioneer Pies is on the frontage road the north side of I-240 just a little west from the intersection. It is located right on the service road (in front of the shooping strip...Walnut Square I think).

The only thing that I can think of right by Helen Enox is a Sonic. There is a Bar B Que place somewhere over there (I think it is still there), a McDonalds and a few places on Western but few where I would take a friend to talk.

Patsy, I know the pain thing. I finally had an MRI about this time last year and they found that every one of my lower lumbar are compromised. The disk are all just "gone" or absorbing...it is a mess! I'm sorry you're having pain. Maybe they can help you out..there are a lot of new procedures that look promising if you only have one or two bad disks. My husband has had good luck with his epideral that they did years ago. My relief lasted less than 10 days per treatment...it was wonderful but hardly worth the price.

Ok - Pioneer Pies it is!! I can't wait!!

One of our friends recently had a "plastic" injected into ruptured discs in his back. I assume it fills in the damaged area. He said it would not correct what was already done, but prevents further damage. He is only about 3 weeks post op, but is doing remarkable. Says there is nowhere near the prior pain. He came here from Texas to have it done because it is relatively new. So keep asking the docs about new stuff!!

I will see you guys tomorrow!!!

Pam, Susan and I did a shopping expedition at Helen Enox Saturday afternoon. I think she's really in love with fabric now. LOL

I knew that could really start something! I'm glad that you were able to show her another side of sewing. Their shop is wonderful and one of my favorite places! I didn't find anything that rang my chimes at Hancocks...close but I think I'm going to stay with the fringed edge. The colors are so bright that it is hard to find something that doesn't either compete with the pattern or dull the colors.

Ladies, I enjoyed Sat. and I look forward to our next outing! Be on the lookout for any stray Sooners/Okies out there and we'll bring them along. See you sometimes after the holidays!!!

Hey Ladies - I had a wonderful time!!! Thanks for taking me to the fabric store. I think I will have to go back VERY soon and get the black material to make some wraps with. Her fabric is simply gorgeous!! I really, really enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks for answering all my questions. Maybe next time we can each bring something(s) we have been working on. I cannot wait to see your finished quilt, Patsy. Your color choices are impeccable. I think I hear La Baquette calling our names for January. Hee Hee. Again - thanks - it was a WONDERFUL afternoon.

Same here Pam and Susan. I really enjoyed visiting with you both and hope that some more of our Okie people who belong to this site will join us the next time. And yes, Helen Enox can really spark your appetite for fabrics. By the way, Susan, the zipper and serger thread I bought I laid down on the pattern table and walked off and left it. When I called them Sunday afternoon, the lady was so nice and said that rather than me drive all the way back over there to pick it up she would just mail it to me on Monday. I'll bet Hancock Fabrics or Joann's would never be that nice. We could also do Panaera Bread the next time too. yuuuuummmm!!!
