As a cancer survivor myself I’m really interested to watch this movie on Lifetime this Monday but I’m curious as to whether other people find it as touching or it is just another show on another channel?

Was this movie from a book? And, was the author a model who diagnosed right before she was to be married?

I find little interesting on TV anymore (other than HGTV, the History Channel or PBS), so I tend to stick with reading. I'll check it out though.

From what I have heard about it is. The young woman has no history of cancer in her family, she is 27/28 yrs old and the wife of a Dr. When she informed him he told her not to worry about it, it could just be fat cells.
She stuck to her guns and had more tests done, found out it was cancer and went to 9 different Dr's and was told 9 different things as to what SHE should do. Basically leaving it up to her to decide, she chose the mastectomy given the information she found out about her type of cancer.
She felt that she needed to write her story to inform women that they have to know their bodies better, and to not be afraid to make decisions like this. And to show that you can still be a very attractive person to yourself. Don't be afraid to be happy, it doesn't have to be the end just because you lost your boob, but a new beginning.
She was on the Today show and The View this morning, showing off her Tattoo at the end of her scar. Many women are choosing to get tattoos instead of reconstructive surgery after their mastectomy.

did anyone get the chance to see it? it was extremely moving, geralyn's story is or should be an inspiration to all women, especially those dealing with breast cancer.

I watched the movie & thought it was done very tasteful plus informative. In the 70's they were so sure I had cancer in my right breast. Everything pointed to it. Remember there wasn't real good testing as there are now. I was scared out of my mind. Date was set & I went into the hospital. They got me ready to have the operation ( I wouldn't know if I had a breast or not until I woke up afterwards ). I walked out. Dumb I know. Then one week later I had the operation. I was lucky, They did remove a huge tumor but it wasn't cancer. I had a wonderful surgeon & he moved whatever around some & I wasn't left with a big sunk in place. There is a difference in the size but I can tell & it isn't noticable to others. I feel so lucky plus grateful to have gotten that great surgeon that didn't mutilalate me as others were at times back then.

I realize that this is an old thread, but since today is my first day here, I felt compelled to comment.

I had a total hysterectomy this past May due to having endometrial cancer. There is a lot of cancer in my family, Daddy died of colon cancer in 1995. I am the only female so far in my family with cancer. Thankfully it was all removed because it was caught early.

That is the reason for my post here. My cancer was caught because of a routine yearly doctor visit. (I didn't have cancer last year, it only showed up this year) The pap test came back with 'unusual' cells and upon further examination the doctor said that he didn't think it was cervical cancer, so he biopsied all the way up into my uterus....where the endometial cancer was found. I had no symptoms at all and was feeling very healthy. I still feel healthy, btw.

So....all of you....get your yearly check ups, even if you feel great and your check up was clear last year!!!!
