Hello everyone!! I am Diana!! A 23year old Singaporean, currently staying in France with my hubby and baby!! I just picked up sewing again. Here in France, I faced some difficulties getting inexpensive fabrics, equipment and notions.. and also english sewing guide books and most importantly, Burda sewing patterns in English!!! My french is really basic conversational level, so I am stuck with a pattern that has all the languages of Europe. No english!! Sigh... Gtg to translate the sewing instructions before i can start... Anyway.. I love this forum!! Its really a great place to start sewing and keep sewing!! Really informative for beginners and the ongoing support for fellow sewers keeps everyone motivated to sew!! Great Forum!!! Ps, If anyone has the instructions (in English) for Burda Baby Pattern 9735, and wishes to send me a copy via email.. Please let me know!! Thanks!!!! Really appreciate!! That way, I will have the true copy! For translated versions, they always sound funny somehow.. This is only my 3rd unguided attempt at sewing for my baby!! Learning on my own is difficult enough without these problems.. Kkekke... And!! Thanks for looking!! Feel free to browse...

Hi esrun3!! Thanks! Yesterday, I emailed Burda and they replied within 24hours, plus sent me an english copy!!! Their customer service is really good, no wonder their patterns are so popular!!! Going to start cutting the moment my baby goes to bed! Keke... Regards dianasiah Feel free to browse...

Bonjour Diana! Where in France are you? Maybe I can help you trace cheaper sources for fabric. Regarding English translations, my schedule is tight, but I'd be happy to help you as time allows. I'm an English teacher (but I'm French). Don't hesitate to shout for help Dear, I've been away from the boards for way too long English sewing journal: Kitty Couture

Oh ok Magot! The seam and hem allowances have to be added by myself!! I trace the original patterns out using tracing papers and add the allowances accordingly! Easier and more accurate for beginners!! Kkekke.. And Thanks Zabelle!! I am in La Teste De Buch!! Its near Arcachon.. Nearest big city is Bordeaux!! Kekke.. The nearest store i have is Ivan Tout Tissus, but I just found Mondial Tissus at Merignac, Bordeaux! Its cheaper then Ivan Tout Tissus!! Had fun shopping there!! Cheaper sources??? Great!!!! Cheap cheap!! I need those!! Thanks!! About the translations, thanks in advance!! Kkeke.. Just 1 question: Do they sell used patterns in those second-hand stores?? Regards dianasiah Feel free to browse...

Hi Dianasiah! It's me again, Zabelle (only I changed my screenname to make it clearer :wink I don't know Bordeaux at all, but I've heard of Mondial Tissus from sewing friends - sounds like a good fabric store! Another cheap source is Toto Tissus... I searched online and there are several in Bordeaux: 17 et 21 rue du loup 90 cours Victor Hugo 100 cours Victor Hugo Online fabric stores in France still tend to be overpriced... The cheapest online source remains Ebay! As for patterns, nope, I'm afraid they don't sell second-hand patterns (except again on Ebay)... I hardly find any interesting patterns in French shops. I buy all my patterns online (Ebay or habithat.co.uk). But you do have several good sewing magazines, with patterns: Burda, Fait Main, Diana Couture, Elena. Hope that helps! Jan, thank you for the welcome back Isabelle
