Hi,

I found this site while searching the internet for a Wards Signature model UHT277 sewing machine manual. The thread tension spring needs replacing. I am handy with my hands and feel I can replace the spring if I had the instructions and the correct spring. While investigating I found out that the spring must be inserted into the correct slot in relations to the springs' position on the machine. Although, I purchased the machine in 1977 I never learned how to truly sew because of other obligations. My machine has been used very little and is a very sturdy machine. I really want to fix my machine so that I can learn to sew clothes. Can any one help me? This site in wonderful!!!

I don't think I have ever seen or heard of a repair manual for M Wards machines. Your best bet is purchase the tension assembly complete. Otherwise you will have other settings to make. This way you loosen 1 screw, slide out the old tension and slide in the new one.
Your local dealer should be able to supply the part.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom
