I have sewed several of the Loes Hinse patterns. These are all casual and comfortable. Her name is pronounced Loos Hins-ah and she studied in Europe. Her patterns go from xxs - xxl. She designs lots and lots of skirts, tops, pants, jackets, vests, coats and bags. None of the designs are frilly or fussy. Most are elegant and quite wearable for every day, evening or the office. One of the things I like about the patterns is that she adds in little tips for sewing and correct pressing. Another thing about these patterns, there is never any interfacing used. Never. I prefer to have interfacing in most of my clothing in areas of stress or where the piece needs more body. Another thing to know about her patterns. The seam allowances are 3/8", she says this results in less bulk. I do not agree with some of her finishing techniques if you are interested in a quality garment with a nice finish inside. However, her clothing is very comfortable and the patterns are easy to follow. Clear directions with diagrams. See what you think. www.loeshinsedesign.com Who else has sewn any of these patterns? They're certainly casual and unstructured. Seem good for sewers with less experience. I'm sure I could find a few things to my liking. Mine is a very casual, outdoorsy lifestyle. Worth checking out further. Thanks, Mary. Lennie |

I like the look of her patterns and have bought and sewn one the Tuxedo jacket. I had some fitting issues- I have sloping shoulders so need to alter for that but I found it hard to decide what size to cut out. Once I tweaked the pattern I have used it 3 times now ( and my neighbour has borrowed it too. I like the 3/8 seams beats 1/4 for sewing and once you know the fit is right my 5 thread serger does a 3/8 which is possibly why I dont mind. I like to read this newsletter which gives some of the tweaks to her patterns http://www.casualelegancefabric.com/newsletter?s=1131805070-1178881065 Having said that it is quite expensive for me to access her patterns so I look for similar styles available to me here in NZ |

I agree, the patterns are very expensive. That is one thing I forgot to include in my review. They are never on sale.

I'm pretty sure that is the lady who was in the garment making industry for years and years, and uses so many time and effort saving shortcuts in construction.. I love seeing her demo her techniques on TV and I try to catch her every time she guests on a sewing show.. I have learned a lot of time savers from watching her.. I do not have any of her patterns..

I live in New Zealand and I ordered from her(loes Hinse) website. Good service. Londa had some good notes that she produced after sewing some of the patterns which had good useful advice not sure where I got them possibly the defunct sewingworld or from a pattern review |

Londa puts out her own little hint/tip pamphlets about some of the patterns she has tried.
