OK well I am a bit of a pack rat and I was going through an old box of sewing stuff that I haven't touched in years and low and behold I found an old black metal case full of Greist Attachments. The machine that these came with was a bust (yardsale purchase) and went away a long long time ago. So what I want to know is if anyone knows how to use these old critters on new machines. They fit the shank on my Pfaff but they have covers for the feed dogs that will not attach to my machine. The covers also appear to serve other purposes as they are not just flat. Also could someone explain to me what a Tucker is? Thanks!!! http://i2.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/81/23/68_1.JPG This set looks very similar to mine, except how they attach to the shank. Gina

A tucker was used to space the fold in a tuck. If you can find an old copy of the Singer sewing book ca: the 50's or early 60'sin a library, it should show most of these attachments. Weezy |

Thanks Weezy, After thinking about it I guess that makes sense. Do you know if I need to have those plates attached to my machine to use the tucker or the ruffler? I have found some instructions online but none of them refer to the plate. Gina

No, I don't know about the covers unless for some feet you need to drop the feed dogs. I don't think older machines did drop the feed dogs the way newer machines do. - Maybe Tom Land does. I do know that I have used Elna feet on my 1471 and 1475 Pfaffs. Used the same feet on a Viking 1+. Now gave them to daughter for use on her PC-6500. HTH Weezy: |

Found a link to all kinds of feet and how they are used. http://www.theweebsite.com/sewing/tools/index.html This explained the tucker foot. Weezy |

Thanks Weezy! The instructions sound simple. Maybe I'll just give it a try without those plates and see if it will work.
