I have googled Electric Quilt and most of the search results are for EQ 5.0. I am becoming more interested in the software and was wondering if I will need to purchase an earlier version of EQ in order to install and use a newer one? Is this software user friendly?

I have EQ 5.0 but EQ 6.0 is being released shortly in November. As long as you buy the full version (not an upgrade version) you don't have to install an earlier version.

EQ 5.0 is OK but it is not as user-friendly as it could be. Mine came with two books. Usually the newer versions are improved so I would wait and get 6.0.

There is a demo of EQ 5.0 on their web-site.

I was wondering about that program myself. It looks like a good one to have if you are going to quilt alot like some of us. :dave: I need some motivation. My neighbor was doing a good job of keeping me going but now she has a daughter who is running her around like crazy so she's not over here as much. Shuckssss I even cleaned up my room and still can't seem to get going. Maybe a new program will help me :bg:
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Thank you HeyJudee

I probably will wait for the EQ 6.0 to come since the software is a lot less expensive than I thought (I thought it would cost as much as embroidery software) ...phew, what a relief! I visited the EQ website when my eyes were less tired and in the meantime I think I'll try the Design Wizard to get my feet wet. I know it is geared toward beginners (me) but I think it will be good start. I already have quite a collection of quilt books that got more attention from me in the bookstore than they are getting in my home. Perhaps I'll make EQ a treat to myself after I've cracked a few books. Thanks:smile:

Well I ordered my upgrade to EQ 6.0 last night. I decided that I'd be better off getting it now and then upgrading my PC sometime in the future. So even if I get it I won't be able to use it! Upgrading my PC may be my new year's project!

I bought the E5 and have only played around with it a bit. So far, I like it. I am hoping after the holidays settle down and I have more time I'll really learn how to use it! I would like to upgrade it as well. It's been several months since I got it but had I realized the new one was coming out I probably would've waited. Julie
