I am trying to find a pattern that was made by either Butterick or Vogue. It apparently is out of print. It is for a soft stuffed hound type dog. The dog is laying on its stomach and has long floppy ears. I think the pattern came about at least 10 or more years ago.

My Mom got this pattern when it came out and used this pattern to make stuffed dogs for all of the smaller grandkids at that time. She passed away in 2001 and my Dad often mentions how it was so nice that she made these dogs for the grandkids.

My Dad has a great granddaughter who is about 2 and I would like to make one so he can give it to her for Christmas.

I think the pattern has two different sizes, but both were just soft floppy type dogs who were on their stomach.

Thanks,
Joyce

When you were describing the puppy it reminded me of the pound puppies, so I did a search on ebay and came up with this.

I just viewed the pattern and it is similar but not exactly the one I was looking for. The one my Mom used was very simple - ie the faces were not as complicated as the ones on the Ebay pattern.

I do appreciate you checking and I will keep looking too!

I just ran across this site. Probably not exactly what you're looking for but there's a cute free pattern for a miniature Dachshund, a terry cloth cat, a few other patterns and lots of pictures of other stuffed dogs and cats for inspiration.

This is totally unrelated, but check out the hanty panty pattern she has. It's panties made from a hankercheif.

OH! I have two different versions of that pattern. Back when the Pound Puppies cartoon was on, my Mom gave me a kit for Christmas to make one. It came with everything you needed including a pattern. For the longest time I had all of the different parts for it. Slowly I lost parts, something to do with moving a lot, and being only a kid.

But, a few years ago I got the Vogue pattern, so I know it was still in print about two years ago, because I think I got it either when I was pregnant with the boys or right around then. I'll have to see if I can find it. I agree it's a great pattern. The dogs were in two different sizes, and were just adorable.

Now that I think about it, I think you are right - it might be a Vogue pattern. I will check today to see if it is still in print. It was kind of modeled after the pound puppies, in fact I think my Mom referred to them as that. They are very soft and floppy and the kids just loved them.

Thanks for the tip
