Last minute project help needed.....I'm making a Santa jacket for the Chick Fil A cow (the person size cow). I have about 48 hours to complete this project. I just realized that I've never worked with faux fur trim. Suggestions? Sandra Betzina's Sewing Savvy book says to trim away fur before stitching. Do I need to do that with just trim? How about hot glue? I know that's not the 'sewing' way to go but will it work if time is getting too tight? This whole garment is going to need to be lined to give it body as the fabric the owner chose is a very supple polyester velvet-like material. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Yes, if all else fails you can hot glue it, but try it on a scrap first. I would trim the fur away, the other option is to put water soluble stabilizer on top and then sew it on, and then rinse away the stabilizer. Then you don't have to trim as much. Ticia |
