Sewhappie...good idea for posting this thread. When I heard the news last night, I was wondering whether anyone from SWN was affected. I saw Bama has posted elsewhere, so she's OK. I thought of her when they mentioned Alabama. Ami glad you & yours are OK! TTFN from

Ami, glad you and your little ones are okay. Yesterday we had straight line winds come through the area and did quite a bit of damage down the road from us. (tornadoes the winds go in a circular pattern and straight line is just as it suggest....winds all in one direction and they can tell this by the direction the trees are facing when down). When driving from my MIL's the drains couldn't handle all the run-off and in some places we were driving through water over 14" deep. It was then that all I could think of were our southern friends and how they could manage with a really bad water situation. I hope everyone is safe and dry! Patty

We had a lot of wind damage (leaves, tree limbs etc down) and it rained like mad, but the power stayed on and everything was Ok, here. But I live 25 mi from the coast and they got hit much harder...as did some north and west of 'us'. Living anywhere in the U.S. is an adventure these days.. Chrys

Patty I was in the county building when that storm hit and they were putting sand bags at the back door. Some guy standing at the window goes "Hey, look at that Mini Cooper floating down the street." Boy did I jump. Everyone thought that was so funny. When I came out a couple hours later there was a beautiful rainbow. Dorothy |

We got alot of rain and some heavy winds, but missed the worst of it. Thanks for posting. I was wondering about some of the other southerners here too. |

Actually storms don't bother me. I like to watch them (I'd be out in them, but the lightening is a bit much ) My neighbor across the street had her house hit by lightening a few yrs ago. She shuts herself inside, closes all the drapes and folds herself up in a blanket and hides. I don't blame her...If my house had been hit I'd be scared too.(especially if it hit my kitchen floor where I was standing a min ago, like it did her...it blew her kitchen floor OFF and killed everything electrical in the house.) One of my ferrets is scared of loud noises, so thunder bothers him...he hides under the couch... Chrys

Hi--just read this post and wanted to say thank you for checking! I don't think I have ever been as scared in my life as I was on the day of the storms. A tornado hit post about 1 1/2 miles from where I work. We were told initially that 3 buildings had collapsed and got ready for ALOT of injuries. Fortunately, there were only about 20 minor injuries and I think one that was a little more serious but not lifethreatening and that one went downtown to the trauma center. Thank God it wasn't any more worse than it was. I hope it's a LONG LONG time before that happens again! Julie
