We have been hit hard here in Barberton with the loss of one of our own. The News Media is just driving all over town stopping and talking with everyone.
If you are not a College Football follower here's the reason.

Ohio State University and The University of Michigan have a LONG STANDING rivalry in football. Michigan former coach Glenn "Bo" Schembechler is from Barberton, went to college at Miami of Ohio and played football under their then coach Woody Hayes. When Woody went to OSU he offered a coach's position to Bo who accepted. Later on Woody was offered the job as Head Coach at OSU and he accepted, Bo was offered the job of Head Coach at Mich and he accepted. Now Woody being a "proud" man would never let anyone really know that he was very proud of Bo and what he had done with his career. SOOOOOOO Woody acted like an ol' hardass and started putting Mich down, the students followed and that was the beginning of the OSU-MICH rivalry.

Bo is a born Buckeye and will always be thought of as a Buckeye, and now he's with his ol' Buckeye buddy. He may have coached at Mich but he's a TRUE BARBERTON BUCKEYE............... We will miss him.

I had told Sewhappy the story of my first date with my husband.........it was to an Ohio State/Michigan Football game in Columbus. I was not into football and my girlfriends couldn't believe I was going and I guess I didn't think it was hot stuff. :nc: I'm not sure how "my date" even got the tickets because they were quite good...... Oh, and he took me to a Lettermen concert at the War Memorial. Bwhahahahahaha......too funny.

My In-laws and their sons all graduated from Ohio State and they even decorate down to the toliet seat.....and yes Christmas ornaments and figurines.

However, to add more interest to the fans of the game.......the quarterback for Michigan is from Central New York. It is too bad that Syracuse wasn't able to recruit him as Syracuse football has been on a greased downward slide for the past couple years. (Not that I'm in to football now...........I'm more of a basketball fan!)

Yes, a very sad day here in MI too. Bo was revered by all here. He will be sorely missed!
