Hi everyone, This feels quite strange as although I've been reading your threads here for quite a while this is my first post. It seems like a great forum with lots of friendly folk and some great advice. As I mentioned I'm posting from Australia so some of the things you talk about don't mean a lot to me (like your fabric shops). We are fairly limited in choices here (one large chain and a fairly small one) and the odd independent store. I've finally gotten the motivation to post to try and find out about a product you guys can get (I think) that is not available here. Its marketed on the net as stretch binding. That product is not available here (we only have bias binding and a very narrow satin stretch binding). Am I correct in thinking this is the stuff that appears to be made of ribbing and applied around the neckline (scoop not crew) and armholes of things like tank tops. I've been doing what is sometimes called chanel trim (in the books I've got) but with variable success. Is this product any good? Or am I better off to persevere with other binding techniques? This has turned into quite a bit more than an introductory post. Apologies. Look forward to hearing from you. Pauline

Hi Pauliine, welcome to the group. I know the stuff you mean but I haven't found an outlet for it either - I think we may be reduced to buying online in foreign parts! I think wadoozle.com has it.. love and kisses, Jan

Hi Pauline and welcome. I think you are talking about ribbing. It can be bought online.

Hi Pauline, I am over in NZ. You can get fold over elastic in different widths and colours - have seen it in Spotlight and some of the independent stores which are few are far between these days Skye |

Now how to figure out the etiquette of replying to more than one person at a time - hopefully this is okay 1. Thanks Jan - will check out the website 2. Mary - it's not ribbing I'm talking about - that is what I use I'm just trying to be lazy and get ribbing that comes as a binding tape (also I'm not the best at getting it even) 3. Skye - Spotlight here doesn't have it - however the local store has just been renovated and has been getting in some new products - I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks all, Pauline Pauline

Hi Pauline, Welcome to this wonderful site. We have lots of knowledgable people that are eager to help. I, am not one of them in this particular case. I have family in Australia. Northern Territory if I'm not mistaken. There's an aunt, uncle, six cousins, spouses and a ton of their children. They might be in Perth as well. Don't know for sure. My family's spread out all over the world. Hope to see you here often. Lennie |

Interestingly I'm soon to have a sister in the US - probably. She has met a fellow on line and they plan to marry in April (presuming their real life meeting goes well). I haven't yet finished scraping my jaw off the ground so I'm not sure whereabouts in the US he is from. Cheers Pauline
