Thank you, thank you! The preparations have begun. As we speak, I have a bird defrosting in the guest bathroom sink. I only bought him yesterday but he's well on his way and should be fine to stick in the oven tomorrow. We'll be eating later since my dd has to work till 5:00 but it'll be a small group.

Thank you for your best wishes everyone! There really is so much to be thankful for living in the countries we on the board hail from.

......come on over, I'll put on the coffee and tea.

I wish everyone a happy Turkey Day. I'll be missing one kidlet, but I talked to her on the phone this morning, so we're counting down days till all can be home together.

For those traveling, please be safe.

Lennie.......great place to defrost the bird! Bwhahahahahaha

You don't know the half of it, Patty.

When I brought it home yesterday it immediately went into a cat litter 5 gal. bucket (clean of course!) and filled with water. That was it's first home.

This morning I was afraid it wasn't going fast enough so it's second home is in the sink in the bathroom to be out of the way, no water. I'll put it back in the bucket tonight.

When I was asking the butcher about defrost time since I was so late I threatened to just throw the bird in the jacuzzi to defrost! Just kidding!

This is what I get for getting to the store so late. I could have gotten a fresh one but I wanted a Butterball and the price was right, .49 per pound (about $9.00) vs. the $37. 00 for a fresh Foster Farms.

Should be ready to go into it's third and last resting place around noon tomorrow.

Have a happy holiday. Lennie

Placing a frozen bird in cold water is about the safest way to defrost it quickly!

Dorothy my girls will help! I usually do desserts but decided that this year I wanted to take the easy way out. I can peel while watching parades. Then just boil & mash right before we go. DD is upset that I am not making my special pumpkin dessert so I told her I will make it for Sunday dinner.

Well you can tell it is a holiday around here.
First off, pure evil has taken over my sewing room.
May daughter's cat has the soul of the cat that was the reason we associate cats with evil witches.
And, because the cat has a wound and couldn't be left alone, she brought it with her for the weekend.
Of course she is staying in a nearby bed and breakfast but the cat is locked in my sewing room so it won't eat Lucy -- or my husband and myself.
I am afraid to even go in there! Seriously.
And -- you are going to love this one -- when my husband dropped off pies at the local mission he signed us up to volunteer at Xmas. I mentioned, before he left, to remember I can't stand for hours at a time. So he found me a job I can do sitting down. I will be the bathroom monitor -- making sure no more than one person is in there at a time!
Whata a man, huh.
(And, yeah, he was laughing about it)

Sorry I'm so late with this but Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the US and a very late one to all my Canadian friends.

I have been busy cooking yesterday and today and I'm ready to hit the bed. I slept on the couch last night monitoring the turkey in the oven. I got about 2 hours of shut eye all night after cooking all day yesterday. I had help this year my soon to be DIL that lives next door came and helped me. I cooked she cleaned the dishes. :bg: :bg: He's my friend for life now. I hate the dishes. I love to cook. Our menu went like this, before I start I must warn you I ate it all so the WW diet went out the window today. Turkey, dressing, chicken and dumplings, corn, brocolli, twiced baked potatos with cheese, gumbo, rice, gravy, stuffed militons (vegetable pears) baked macaroni and cheese, 2 cheese cakes, pumpkin pie, 2 pecan pies, and Mississippi Mud Pie oh and cranberry sauce. All my sons showed up and we had a nice day. The new baby and her baby sister were at another grandma's house and the oldest granddaughter was with her Mother but it was all good and I'm stuffed. We did have one scare after dinner. My youngest grandson was skateboarding and fell and hit his head. His Dad and he spent all evening at the emergency room getting the lump on the back of his head checked out but he is fine.

Dorothy I'd love to get a pic of that site. Your hubby must have some sense of humor.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.
