You know it's really hard to get into the Christmas Spirit when it's 60+ degrees out, people are driving around with the tops of their convertibles down, and sitting out in the yard tanning themselves without a shirt on ( yes it was a guy!!)!!!!!
They have started to play Christmas Music on the radio, but the weather is just making it very hard to get into the mood.
DH said that it will start snowing like crazy in 2 weeks just as our plane is ready to taxi down the runway for take-off. I told him that's okay, when we land we will be right back into the no snow and crazy holiday weahter once again in Vegas. The only thing that will be different is the time change.

I completely understand what you mean--it was in the 70's today and just didn't seem like Christmas weather at all. Last week was rainy and cold and this week is like Spring..go figure! No wonder everyone is sick LOL!
I did venture out to shop a bit--the mall was a madhouse and I went by Lowe's to get shelve lining and then by Kohls. Lowe's was even busy! I guess everyone is doing those honey do projects to get their houses ready for Christmas.
I hope it cools off soon. Lyn said that Arizona is having record high temps for this time of year. I'm sure if Phoenix is hot, Tucson is even hotter (where hubby's family lives.)

Well it feels like christmas here...the snowbirds are arriving. (yay...just what we all need...old folks in boats on the roads). The grass is brown. (no rain) Everyone is puting up their decorations. (as I will be starting tomorrow hopefully). I got up early (5am) because my husband wanted to shop on his FIRST ever black Fri. (so he spent $$$ at Best Buy getting stuff for a computer Dell says we didn't order, but WE say we did..)
I didn't see any arguments over things not being in stock. (which is unusual when theres X Boxes, Wii's etc., all over the place.) I did notice though that the 'upscale' stores were just about empty, while Wally World, KMart, Target, Penneys, Sears, et al, were FILLED to the brim and people were actually B U Y I N G .
I guess it counts if all I bought were christmas decorations for the yard...:bg:

It is currently 62 degrees here in sunny south Florida, which is just fine by me. We also have the snowbirds driving into town but most of them go closer to the beach, I'm a little more inland. I had a little trouble getting into the Christmas mood yesterday so I put in a video of my favorite holiday movie, It's A Wonderful Life, and pulled out the tree and decorations. I'm feeling a little more festive today. I didn't venture out to any stores but my daughters worked at Bath & Body Works yesterday and said it wasn't as bad as they expected.

I was watching the Weather Channel, Storm Stories, last night and though it was a interesting story it was more interesting watching the scrolling temps along the bottom of the screen. I couldn't believe how warm it was across the entire country!

In San Diego they get the Zonies, but they come in the summer to get away from their horrific heat. Up where I live we don't see them. They tend to stick to the beach areas.

It was 37 degrees and misty when I got up. The sun has since come out, it's about 51 and so gorgeous and amazing. We're hoping for rain tomorrow and Monday. The pacific northwest should be having it about now.

If cold is what Christmas is about, then we are getting there. Thanksgiving Day we drove through snow to get to my son's two hours away. Fortunately it didn't ice over for the return trip. Today it is about 20 and by Tuesday the high will only be in the single digits with an overnight low of below zero!! I am never ready for this. It takes sometime for the body to adjust and the older I get the longer it takes!!

There was I walking to the car when the monsoon struck. You could tell it was a monsoon 'cause it turned off again just as abruptly. That was a great fashion look I can tell you, "Drowned rat by Janice"

Well, it is certainly winter here. At present the temperature is -4.2 F (-20.1 C) and falling. And there is a slight breeze. Too cold to put my fireplace on. In fact, it is really not all that cold but sure feels it. It snowed for several days this week and it was the very fine snow which is easier to sweep than shovel. I haven't been out since I fell nearly 3 weeks ago, but will have to make the journey to my car and see if it starts sometime soon!

Anyone bragging about unseasonably or seasonably warm weather is likely to get a snowball express mailed to them from Northern Canada.

I am cold and Snowed in. I have been cold and snowed in for the entire month of November. We have over a metre of snow sitting on the ground. We have had our first Snow day in 30+ years.

And it is cold.

Maybe I will just forgot the snowball and express mail myself to all you warm weather people because I am cold!

It's too warm here to get into the Christmas spirit. It's been between 80 and 90 for the last severl weeks or so, supposedly it will cool down this week to "normal" about 72. Definitely hard to get into the spirit.

I lived in NM for the 1st 12 yrs of my life...it snows there and theres a weird tradition..tumbleweeds as a christmas tree...you get 3 of graduated sizes, paint them silver or gold, wire them together and decorate.
(talk about weird...and THATS supposed to get you in the mood for christmas...)

For those who don't know what a tumble weed is...it's a BIG round plant( Russian thistle) thats died and when it's windy, on the mesa's (plains, etc) they blow around all over..they're full of stickers and you have to be careful how you catch and handle'em...they can be very large or very small, but dried, they last forever...

It has been sunny and warm here -- 50s -- but today it is grey. There are a couple kids out there playing football in shirt sleeves so it probably isn't cold and I'm not complaining. It will get cold and stay that way far to long, I'm sure.
Speaking of football--hey Patty weren't those Auburn boys cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Novembers are usually grey, but after over two weeks of rain and grey skies it was nice to see that the sun hasn't left this solar system. I appreciated knowing that slippery roads and blowing snow weren't here this holiday and something I was VERY thankful for with kids traveling. So for all you Northern friends, I feel for you. Winter will come here by the end of the week with lake effect snow on Friday

It is nice to see the community excited about something and supporting the high school team Dorothy. (A local HS football team was able to play for the district title due to a Syracuse team having to default and then the local team went all the way - winning the state title on Saturday; a real cinderella story.) I just wish the community could keep up the momentum and get excited about something else.

I was just thinking the same thing about the tumbleweeds. I bet they can be very artistic and special. Firs are pretty recent in the scheme of things.

I'm debating getting a tree this year. I haven't had one in years. I'm not big on the holidays and my house just doesn't have the space for a tree. I've had little ones in years past and always had one when the kids were little. Hmmmmm..... Maybe a nice med sized living tree.

I was given a gift 2 years ago of a "grow your own Christmas tree forest" Those 8 little trees are 2 years old now and some 6" high - they are so cute! But if I brought them in and put baubles on them they would bend so much!

Hey Sherri...no snowballs please!!! We haven't had any snow yet this year. It was 10°C in Ottawa today and on the local news they had pics of people playing golf. It was so nice that I even spray basted two crib size quilts on my deck...won't use the spray in the house. Have them ready to quilt when I have some time this winter. No, Jan...won't be doing them before my Advent quilt is finished!

I finally did a little shopping today. I just don't feel like Christmas yet. We did some decorating this weekend & I am sewing & listening to Christmas music but I just can't get enthused. We don't have a lot of money so I am trying to think of just the right thing before I buy. I think it is the fact that we don't have any small kids in the house anymore & I am trying to be practical & still fun.DD gave me permission (like I really need it) to get DGS (5) the drums he wants. I am going to try to do something homeade for each of my kids. Maybe if the weather changes it will help.
I think we will put up the tree on Tuesday.

Oh, if cold is what brings the Christmas Spirit, then I am definitely in it! I went out to get groceries today and the back window of the truck was too cold to go down (-23C / -9.6F). It looks like it will be sticking around for a few days too. It's hard to imagine being in a convertible when it's like this!

The kids had a Xmas party yesterday in a big outdoor tent - it's usually quite warm, but they had a problem with the heaters and we had to wear our coats and mitts the entire time. You can tell the kids are true Canadians though, because they were still ordering snow cones for a treat, even if their poor little hands were frozen!

All the nice weather brought out everyone putting up their Christmas decorations. I couldn't believe all the houses with lights strung everywhere and a new one for us to see..........a moose with lights.

Hey Ya'll...it has bee pleasant here in Dallas. Last year it was downright hot!

But we had a first this year....swimming on Thanksgiving. We're thinking it should be a new tradition.

But, we're supposed to have a little snow by Thursday! And we're not like our friends in the frozen north (Canada!). When the flurries start falling we all stay home! Texas cities don't own snowplows or any kind of equipment to bust up ice (cept maybe out in Amarillo, but that really should be considered part of Colorado or New Mexico anyway).

Everyone around here has outdoor decorations up. A few have their artificial trees up and decorated. I must be an old fashioned  pain in the butt because I feel it is way too soon for that stuff. You get so tired of it all before Christmas ever comes. I won't be decorating anything for another couple of weeks.

Mich is warm too. Lots of motorcycles out on the road. Doesn't seem like Christmas is near, except for all the decorations that are up. I do remember maybe 10 years ago when it was in the 60's on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We drove our Harleys all decked out with garland to go visiting on that day.

I think our seasons are moving around on us!! The winter seems to stay until late april early may and it stays blustery and warm until the end of november?? My D has had a constant cold because the weather has been so crazy...I dress her warm in the morning but by noon its 60+

I spent black friday getting pumpkin rolls and cookies made for holiday gifts (since the kitchen was a mess anyways). I will be trying to get them out early this year since we only have 26 days until xmas eve. I like to have presents deliverd by the 20th so I can relax the week of.
