I was talking with the Asst. Manager of the Fabricland in my area about body forms. I wanted to buy one of those adjustable body forms they sell. She advised me that because of my height, the ready-made forms may not work for me, and said that there was a company in British Columbia (Canada) that made body forms from MemoryFoam. Apparently they sew a "cover" made to your specifications which fits over the MemoryFoam. You then have a soft form which is identical to your body measurements. The cost for this form is about $250Cdn.

I have looked and looked on the Internet :pc:, and cannot find anything when I google MemoryFoam Body Forms, with any number of work combinations. I am going nuts. :bang: Has anyone on the site heard of such a thing??? And if so, what the heck is the name of the company???

I was so excited when this lady told me about this, and now I can't find any relevant information. How depressing is that???

Any info would really be appreciated!!

Cheers, all, and thanks in advance.

Bev.

Hi Bev,

Try searching under "dress forms" instead of "body forms". I think it's more commonly known by "dress forms" in the States.

Here's a site but it's just foam rubber, not memory foam.

What happens with this form if you lose or gain weight? Is there any adjustment built in?

I'm not sure I'd have the confidence to buy one if not.

I have a Fabulous Fit dress form. (No affiliation)

http://www.fabulousfit.com/

It is adjustable for height and width. Made of foam,(you can put pins in it), it comes with a body stocking type garment and curved soft pads to customize it to size. I have also added batting to fine tune.

You put the additional padding under the body stocking to create your shape. It allows you to put the bust point at the right place from the shoulders, add for padding in front or back, etc.

My sister and I had a lot of laughs making it look like me. We succeeded! In fact, when my husband had an electrician friend come over to put lighting in the sewing room, I had to put a robe on it. LOL

I bought it a few years ago, but I remember the salesperson was very helpful on the phone.

Hi, Ladies,

Thanks for all the replies. (I haven't been online for some time). After humming and hawing for a bit, I went ahead and ordered the Uniquely You dress form. It's supposed to arrive today, so I'll let you all know how it goes.

Apparently, from speaking with the supplier in Quebec, if you gain or lose a few pounds, you can "adjust" this form. It comes with a "cover" which to adjust for the measurements you supply the company when you order. And because the actual form is made of memoryfoam, you can use several different covers on it.

Since I'm at the heaviest I've ever been in my life, I'm hoping I won't need to get a BIGGER cover , but if I need a smaller one, I'll make it myself!!

My biggest concern is the body-height. I am 6'2" tall, and so the normal dressforms one can get at Fabricland won't adjust to a long-enough body measurement for me (between shoulders and hips). I think this Uniquely You form may work for me, but I'll let you all know how it turns out!!

Can't wait to get my hands on "Druscilla". For $253 Cdn, she better be good!!!!

More later .....

Bev.
