How many do you buy/make for and how "done" are you????

Me first: I buy/make for about 15 in varying degrees and I'm about 90% done!

Wrapping: 0% done

Mostly buy but I'm trying to make for all my "token" gifts - I have staff members at my WW meetings (5 or 6 at each x 3 meetings) plus teacher gifts (my 2 kids have 5 teachers between them).

Scary thing was I hadn't bought a single gift until yesterday when I managed to buy about 40 % of my gifts. Haven't yet made anything though. If all else fails I'll be buying those things too. As for wrapping - not one gift wrapped yet.

Hopefully today I'll get started on the making thing.

We had a day off school on Friday (unofficially called Teachers Shopping Day) and we bought everything and it is all wrapped and posted off to the people it needs to go to. Cards were posted last weekend. I still have cards to do for work collegues. This leaves me with the gifts I make for my friends and kids. I have made 2 pairs of gloves, 1 pair of mittens, 1 pair of socks and tonight I will get my knitted model of DNA finished. This is for my boss who last year received the knitted womb/fallopian tubes and ovarys...
If you are interested the pattern is here http://kimberlychapman.com/crafts/knit-patterns.html#dna - I'll put up a picture when I am done. Still have 2 teacosies and 2 pairs of socks to go - not convinced I am going to manage it all......

I have about 10 - Mostly I buy. I have only about 5% done!! Probably won't do most of it until about the
20th - gotta get one more payday in there:) My son's bday is this Sunday so coming up with ideas for both is always challenging. My daughter will be easy this year. She is in Ecuador volunteering for an orphanage organization. Can't safely send things so will put$$$ in her account. I did buy her an Ipod before she went.

I crocheted a scarf for my niece and am knitting one for her brother.
That's it. That's all I'm doing. So I'm half done.
I will spend Xmas guarding the bathrooms at the mission.
I suppose I should do something for my husband -- but it will come to me.
No stress this year.

I do part buy/part make too.

We draw names for the adults and set a $25 limit to keep Christmas affordable, but still fun but I still buy something small for my daughters and their husbands and of course we all buy for the kids. My kids keep trying to tell me not to buy for them but I do. I have always made one gift for everyone as well.

This year the two oldest girls and husbands wanted a wall-hanging of the green man (medieval keeper of the garden) done like stain glass and they are both done, except for hand sewing the binding on which is on my list to do tonight.

I am making place mats and table runner for the third daughter and they are about 75% done.

One grandson is getting a knight's helmet made from a knit that looks like metal - very cool - and a cape with a dragon on the back. He is 8 and crazy about knights, castles, etc. They went to England/Ireland/Scotland this summer and he got to see real castles.
The helmets are done (I made two so he can play with a friend) but the cape isn't done.

The two year old grandson is getting an I spy quilt.
Not even started yet.

The 14 year old grand daughter is getting a beaded choker and matching ear rings out of polymer clay - not done.

One sister-in-law is getting necklace/bracelet/earrings.
Done.

One sister-in-law(ex-husband's sister) is getting a purse locket type thing with pictures of the three grand kids - she is actually their great-aunt but is 75 and never married and so my grand kids call her Gramma Barb. It's done.

I made one for my daughter's mother-in-law too but only it has just my daughter's two children on it. We are going there for boxing day supper so I wanted her to have something.

I made hubby lighthouse pillows - done and he's enjoying them.

Time permitting I may paint them all an ornament on some slate a friend gave me but when I re-read this list, it's doubtful there will be any time left.

I have pj's for 11 to make, all but one pair are cut, then I will have a marathon, same as every year, no stress LOL. I like to cut all of them out first, it's easier I think. No idea what for hubby, or MIL. The grown kids are getting gift cards to favorite shops, that can be last minute....DS birthday is Saturday, gonna get him a George Foreman grill, on sale at Target for 29 bucks, hopefully they will have some left Thursday when I get paid...haven't thought about decorating or even getting cards written...oh well not much time now, almost time for bed, 5:30am comes pretty quick...

I buy and make only for those who live in my house (4 kids, 1 hubby, 1 dog and 2 cats). I would go broke if we bought for siblings, nieces and nephews (hubby and I are both the baby of 7). His parents say they don't want anything, just donate to a charity in their name if we want to give them something. Occasionally I give my dad something if I find something I know he would love but is too stingy to buy for himself.
The kids usually make things for their teachers.
I have bought nothing yet, I will go shopping next week.

I have thought about giving a giftcard for one free pants hem to all the people I work with at McDonald's. Just about everybody there is walking around on their hems (including me:shock: ). They just got around to enforcing the slacks rule  (most of us wore black jeans) so everyone has new pants. I am afraid thought that if I do this Iwill be hemming pants all through January and February. Don't really know how many people work there as it changes daily (sometimes hourly:bluewink: )

I have a about 6-8 shirts I'm supposed to embroider for my sister. The other stuff is wrapped and ready to send.
It only takes a week for stuff to get to her, so I'm hoping I get done in time, if only I could start.

Wow is it December already???? Can you tell if I did anything yet? I got the fleece sweats on the table to embroidery their names on .......well some of them, I have 3 pillow cases embroideried with names. I have my tree decorations bought and my outside lights up. I also have my tree picked out but have to get it yet. I have most of my cards done, stamped but not mailed waiting to finish them up and mail all at once..........at least this year I did the cards. Last year with Katrina I had a small christmas tree I bought at the dollar store with no decorations except some shotgun shells the kids shot for target practice and they tied them on the tree for me. If not for that we wouldn't have had a tree. I was lucky I had a house to have a tree in last year. Anyway this weekend I will start my shopping and I will be finished by next weekend. The older kids are getting money and a few little things and the babies well they are easy and cheaper. lol:bg:

Yup! I'm sitting here reading this with a ton of stuff I need to do. I'm a bit overwhelmed.

Great replies! Got my shopping done yesterday. a looooong day. Haven't done any cards yet. I've got about 75 to send out. Haven't wrapped anything! Haven't finished many, many things yet to be embroidered. Luckily it's all pretty basic.

Bought a tree yesterday and have no idea where to put it. It's tall and narrow but any wider than 4" and I need to move furniture!

Okay, let's get organized! Pep talk! Pep talk!

WOW, It seems like I have been working on my gifts all year!
I am about 75% done with the gifts I am making. I buy some and I make some. Some I buy to go with what I made. I made apple butter this year since we had an ABUNDANCE of apples on our trees and also made some applesauce and those are going to go in baskets with the placemats and runners I made for ppl on my list.

I have a few things and a few gift cards to buy. I really hate the idea of gift cards but I usually make an ornament that I can put it in so that there is at least something personal about it.

Cards? I have a list of about 100 that I have to get out. They are mostly all signed but have to have our annual letter put in them along with a little "adoption" card to get the word out about us wanting to adopt for those who don't know and then to give the info to the ppl who do.

I feel pretty good about stuff this year. Last year was last minute stuff and I hated that!

Happy Holidays to everyone and GET TO WORK!!!

I am done with buying..I have to get a gift card for a friend who JUST bought a house but other than that...Wrapping is most of the way done. I do have to wrap the gifts from Santa for D, but thats a late night tradition my husband and I share....With kee lime pie and hot chocolate :-) the hot chocolate normally has a touch of bailys irish cream in it but this years pregnancy put a damper on that, LOL!!

I usually make more than buy but not this year-have had other priorities (baby) LOL but...the good news is, I am DONE!! except for some stocking stuffers! Let's see sister, bil, niece, her bf, 3 kids, wives, bf, 4 grandkids, and about 15 people at work to do something for. Think I'm doing pretty good since all my attention and sewing for the most part has been on the baby. Now I can sit back and relax and the better news is that I am done wrapping except for 1 gift. Still have to make cookies for everyone but that's always done just a few days before Christmas.

We drew names for the first time this year and so I had one big present to buy, then things for the grands and something small for my best friend and my sister in law and I'm done. I'm making the last two gifts if I can ever figure out when I'll have the time. I've had a week off and I've sewn for about 4 hours all week, really frustrates me, but people keep bothering me (ooohhh, Mrs Grinch I am) I'll still have Friday to work on stuff, but then I have only the evenings until just before Christmas. Tree is up, nothing is wrapped, I don't bake, so I guess I'm almost ready.
