Thank goodness for this forum! I have to make a baby blanket by tomorrow. I have a pretty bright fleece and do have some binding for it. But as time is short I was thinking of just cutting the edges to make a fringe. There are so many things that I would never have thought of that now are not safe for babies! And I was a baby nurse!

Is fringe safe on an infant blanket? :nervous:

As long as it is not long enough to wrap around the neck & wide enough that it can't be pulled off you should be OK.

Thanks, Barb
It was the pulling off that I had sort or wondered about. Wide sounds OK. I know babies like taggies on things to suck on and I do think that sucking may pull off a fringe on fleece so will just hem it or see what it takes to pull off wide short piece of fringe.

What about making ribbon 'tags'? I did that for my 'baby' and she loved it. I just used ribbion from my stash and sewed them on every so often.

I have a fleece blanket with fringe for my baby and as the pp said, the ends are not too long and not too skinny, dd has always liked it. I"ve also made "taggie" blankets with the ribbon sewn on, very easy to do. A

Thanks everyone. In order to get it to the post office on time I ended up just hemming the blanket. It is to be used in a car as mother is afraid baby gets cold in the type of car seat she has and doesn't think she has warm enough blankets. She does, just doesn't believe me, her mother! :bluewink:
