I made these knickers for my son recently: http://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2006_5/sivut/15.jpg They are to-die-for cute and I made them from another pair of pants my mom had given me to recon. They worked out adorable and nicely loose. So here's the deal. I want to make a pair for my daughter and shorten the leg, then attach, essentially, hand-knit legwarmers to the bottom! To slip into her boots or whatever, mostly for warmth. I have this wonderful wool dark green tweed wool to use (worsted, size 6 needles, and I already know my gauge). So I would be knitting a tube in stockinette with a bottom rib. The top circumference of the legwarmer would matching the leg cuff (which I would take in a bit). My question is - what's the best way to attach the legwarmer to the cuff? Anyone done anything like this? I posted here instead of Needlework. Thanks for any hints you might have! see the mundane life of a housewife.

Before turning up the cuff, I would machine sew the knitting to the pants leg with a wide zig-zag. I would sew it above the fold line of the cuff, so when you turn up the cuff, the zig-zag stitches will be hidden. The photo you posted is very cute! Pauline |
