I was wanting to make a few pair of shorts for my 11 yo this summer and have a couple of patterns that I plan to use. My problem is I was going to add some pockets on the outer thigh area like on cargo pants but am unsure at what stage of sewing they should be attached or how to construct. If I've sewn the outer leg seam then I won't be able to access the fabric on all sides to topstitch. Is there a really basic concept that I've somehow missed? Pauline

I think you would have to save the inner leg seams and crotch seams for last. Sew the outer leg seams first, and attach the patch pockets so you will be working with a flat surface.
Take care,

Pauline, it's called an 'air bubble' moment. I had a big one today, totally forgot a really good friends name.

Glad I'm not the only one who has these air bubble moments.
