What would be the best way to finish the raw edges for table cloths? I made some before and didn't finish and my edges ripped. I was thinking either serging with wooly nylon or maybe bias tape. I am open to other suggestions too.

Gina, I make this kind of tablecloth for my brother's picnic table outdoors, because of the length.. it's a 12 foot table.. I just serge the edgesand they work just fine.. Never had one to rip or tear.. I even carefully serge the hole in the center for the umbrella post to fit through.. This is what I give him for his birthday usually.. He does a lot of entertaining around his pool .. Simple barbeques usually.. He appreciates me ! ! Sew With Love

Libby, Do you just use regular serger thread or wooly nylon? Gina

I have used both.. He doesn't care if the thread covers the surface fully or not... I think the regular Maxi-Lock looks better .... Purely a 'looks' thing, though, I don't think it makes any difference in the wear and tear..
