I searched and way back in 03 there was a small discussion on the rotary sharpeners. Does anyone else use them and what is your opinion of them. What about brands, which is better? I see in googling that there are a few brands out there. I find I go through a blade a month or more and it's getting really expensive. Yes I have a new mat, (6 months old) and an old mat.

Maybe you are pushing too hard on them when you cut? That will dull them much faster.

I USE A LITTLE GREEN ONE. I don't recall the brand name but I expect they are all about the same. I have found I can prolong the life of a blade at least 2 or 3 times. I like Pam said tend to press down too hard so I dull them pretty fast. Also crack a lot of them.

My sharpener is blue and is from Dritz. I know I press down too hard when I use my cutter, so do go thru blades quite fast. The sharpener helps a great deal and the blades feel like they are almost new when I do sharpen them. Now if I could just not press down so hard my blades would last longer and my mat wouldn't have so many nicks!

Mine is the same as Grandma's. I just thought it was green.

You say green, she says blue, I say peecan, you say pecahn.... I have seen the blue one around here, and yes, I press too hard too, if I'd learn to be softer, I probably wouldn't have trouble with the ruler slipping!!!

vickki, I bought mine a couple of years ago at Joanne's Creative Notions. But I checked their site & can't seem to find it on their site now. But this Can. site sells them & their price is cheaper than I bought it a couple of years ago. Hope this helps.
