Any special things to consider when embroidering on a sweatshirt? Which stabilizer? Hoop or hoopless? Thanks!:nc:

Sweatshirts stretch...so you need a cut away. I usually use two layers of a heavier cut away on sweats, two layers of Polymesh on t shirts. I use 505 and the hoopless method (so much easier to center and get straight). I do not use a solvy topper because there is nothing to penetrate the stitches.

Thanks, Pam! Nice to see you here. I see you over on the Bernina forums. Thanks again for the advice.

Hi, ya, I hang out here a lot more than there...I'm not as high tech as many of those people. I enjoy the sewing end of this forum. I miss the Bernina forum since it is down though. I learn a lot there.

I miss the forums over there too. Wonder how long they'll be down. I'm still learning my new Bernina. I have an older 1230 that still purrs, but the new one has all the bells and whistles and it's a whole new world there!

Pam
Have you gotten any workbooks for Version 4 or 5 software that you like? I was thinking of getting Patrick's .

No, I haven't. I think that Patrick's would probably be a very good investment. Right now I'm going to a software class at my dealer's once a month. The teacher takes a very specific part of the software and covers it in depth. I took one of these when I first got the V4 and it did so much more for me than sitting down and doing it with a book. I remember so much more when I learn/see/do it. I haven't had any beginning classes for the V5 (had it since the first week it came out)...one didn't make, I couldn't manage to get to the other. The more I use it though the easier it gets so I really am not sure that it is a problem. Since my granddaughter has gotten older, I have more time to play with it than I ever have and I've kept it pretty busy this Christmas season.

How do you like V5?

To tell you the truth, it is still in the box. I started out getting a 640E in Feb. but then my son ....well, we won't go there, but my dealer was so good to me and allowed me to trade it in for a 730E which I love. I just finished taking the lessons on that and in January will take the lessons in the software. I did do some of the online lessons and it helped alot. I've been making lace ornaments on it for Xmas presents and they come out so nice and that machine just purrs . I have my old 1230 that I kept so while the new one is embroidering I can still be sewing. I would go nuts if I didn 't have the two machines because that embroidery can use up alot of precious time. You know, my dealer also has monthly software classes where they do what yours does. Maybe I should get more involved in that too.

You'll love the 730. It is pretty much the 200 (hopefully with the bugs worked out). I've been VERY happy with the stitch quality of the 200.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy the software classes. If you get a chance, you should take them. You'll be amazed at how much they help!
