What kind of pageant wear are you looking for? If for a child do you want long or short? Let me know and I will see if I can help you because the patterns for the southern style and cupcake skirts are not easy to locate.

The top is just a peasant style top with ruffles added on the sleeves, and cut short and added elastic in the bottom. Simplicity pattern 3938 would work for it. The skirt is basic cheer skirt with diffrent patterns. Simplicity 4040 would work for it then just add straps.

Break the pattern down and simplify it as much as possible. It will save a lot of time on construction. I've never sewn pageant wear per se. but I have done skating and dance costumes, including precision teams.

Are you making a garment for a specific customer, or starting a new business venture? If you're starting a business, please be aware that using a commercial pattern (Simplicity, McCalls) to make multiple garments for sale violates the copyright agreement (in fine print on the back of the envelope) Putting parts of patterns together or changing the pattern 10-20-30% does not make it okay in the opinion of the pattern company, or the law. If that is what you're doing, be very discreet about it.

That being said, since little girls don't need much in the way of darts and such, a child-sized mannequin and a little imagination will allow you to create your own patterns, or to drape clothing yourself.
