Hello, I have been trying to make those fabric bowls and my machine is giving me fits. I don't know if its the Stiffy that has to be used for these or the wonder under. I can not seem to get my machine to do a decent satin stitch for this. I go over and over the area to get a decent stitch. I have changed my needles,, my upper thread is always breaking, it is giving me fits!!! Has anyone else tried to sew these and have you had any problems?? Thanks |

We have always just used "fast 2 fuse" on fabric bowls. If your machine works well on everything else I suspect it may be the stabizers causing your problem. Other than that I can't offer much. Make sure your needlebar isn't bent by setting it for the widest zig zag and checking that the clearance from the needle to the edge of the needle hole is the same on both sides. If it is closer on the left hand side its time to see the doctor. This situation will cause thread breakage especially if the needle is already rubbing the plate. Also with the machine unthreaded run it at high speed on the widest zig zag. Listen for a pinging. If there is a pinging this situation is not so serious but does require adjustment. Both of these problems are very common on that machine (in fact almost inevitable). But my first guess would be to try a different interfacing if the machine normally does well when doing a satin stitch. Have fun or don't do it, Tom

Tom, you are just a gem of a guy.. I always hope you can answer my silly questions.. It probably is my stabilizer.. but it is already ironed to my fabric...: ( I have learned a lesson the hard way..for sure.. Ask for help before you jump in : ) |
