I believe the closest I will be to being a g-ma is to the puppy my daughter adopted from the spca. Certainly my children are old enough, but I would be :bg: if the day ever came. My daughter sends me pictures of my g-doggie - maybe I am a grandmother in training?

Yeah -- somebody always has to come along and rub it in.
When my girls were younger I made sure they knew how and why not to have a baby before they wanted one.
One told me I taught them good -- too good I guess.

Nope. 2 daughters though 23 and 20 - one is planning on how to be a fiendish auntie - you know the type who feeds the kids e numbers, buys them a drum and passes it back. Where did she get that idea from?

I'm with Patty and Dorothy on this one. We have 4 kids between us ages 24-28 and not a grandchild in sight except the 11 y/o son of my dd's fiance. He's a sweetie but he might be the only one.

I think I scared my kids too. You know, it'll change your life forever, biggest decision you'll ever make, it's like tearing your heart out and wearing it on the outside of your body, a mother's only as happy as her unhappiest child, etc. etc. Sounds pretty rough, doesn't it?

I do have many, many grand-dogs, grand-kitties, and even a grand-ferret! I don't think it would break my heart if I never had more than stepgs. Fewer loved ones to worry about in this scary world..........

I have a beautiful granddaughter age 3. She is already bilingual! She knows she has to speak to me in English and her aubelita from Guatemal in Spanish. Pretty amazing. Her little brother is 3 months old, and of course adorable. My other son and my daughter are not married yet but have they will some day and add to the brood!

My DH and I have 6 kids between us - ages 21-27. Three are married, and one has blessed us with two wonderful grandsons, ages 3 and 1. They make everything wonderful. I started sewing to make my older grandson a quilt for his second birthday! So, I will forever thank him for that! They do keep us young and totally exhausted! Can't wait for more!

I'm Grandma to 3 boys and 2 girls, ages ranging from 18 months to 10years. Have done lots of sewing, knitting and crocheting for all. The 10yr old is now asking me if I could make ______, she's picking out patterns and giving me the numbers and asks for certain colors or patterns.

Any of you ladies see "Dear Abby" today? They were talking about Grandma-to-be showers. Any of you heard of or had one? It was a new idea to me. :nc:

I could go for a grandmom to be shower! Mostly, I'd like advice on how to be a good grandparent (i.e., how to bite one's tongue).

I have trouble with that ALL the time - the behaviour of other peoples kids or parenting styles seems to be an issue we all want to comment on. I guess it just gets worse if they're related to you.

For the time, I was late to motherhood, and now, my children are part of the generation to plan everything only having children when they have everything else. My son and wife have decided not have children. But my daughter, who I thought may never even marry, presented me with a wonderful and good natured grandson 4 months ago - a continent away. Thankfully digital camera's keep us in touch. I have met him personally and he is wonderful. My big concern is in having a degenerative disorder and living so far away I will never be able to spend a lot of individual time playing with him and caring for him.

Carol , Where did you find your piggie pillow and slippers pattern? I hope you don't mine sharing the info.

I love to share. The pillow is part of ababy quilt panel that someone gave me. The piggy slippers are modified from a pattern for "Barnyard Cow Slippers" that I found on the Michael's website

I'll post a picture as soon as I finish them.
