Hi all, I am Tari and can't wait to start interacting. I am looking to start a sewing business. Will be making children clothes in mostly cotton fabrics. I need some advice on the 3 most important machinery I'll need. Does any one out there run a similar business? I'll also like advise on some very good quality longlasting Industrial sewing machines. Thanks and expecting to receive replies. Tari |

Hi Tari and welcome to Sew Whats New. Congratulations on starting your new business. I think a good industrial machine is a Juki for long hours of sewing. I have not used one myself but have heard good things from others about this machine. I also watched a news clip last night on a company who makes winter clothing here in Canada. Their machines were Juki. Does anyone else have any suggestions for Tari?

I was thinking Juki too...they're made for industrial work and LAST a long time...(they aren't computerized and don't have a lot of stitches, but they're metal and are workhorses..)

Tari, if you are starting a sewn product business, you should definitely check out www.fashion-incubator.com. Every question you could ever think of and a hundred more you couldn't will be answered on there. Also, Kathleen Fasanella, who runs the site has written a comprehensive book for anyone starting out in the business. It's called "The Entrepreneurs' Guide to Sewn Product Manufacturing" Good luck to you Karen V all art is lies that help us see the truth

Thanks so oooo much. Does anyone know the price of the Juki and apart from that do I need a Serger (heard so much about them on this forum), steam press etc. I want the clothes to have a very professional store-bought look. Are there any Professional sewing classes in the Canad area that era good too?/ |

Thanks for mentioning her site. Kathleen is certainly the expert in her field. She and I chat once in a while, what a hoot.
