Are you saying I have a big mouth?
You know there were a couple times when things were done to the boards and people had the counter start over and some how mine didn't.

For awhile there my counter was going backwards. So everytime I would post it subtracted from my total. Who knows where that would put me.

Could you please explain to an Australian girl what a tomato is???? :nc:

I have seen it in a few different posts, and understand it is a pin cushion, but why is it so special??

Thanks,
Soph

How Tomato Pin Cushion came to be:

People used to believe that placing a ripe tomato on the mantel when first entering a new home guaranteed future prosperity. Since tomatoes were not available year-round until recently, families moving into new homes often substituted round balls of red fabric stuffed with sawdust or sand. These balls were also used as pincushions, which explains--if you ever wondered--why your grandmother's pincushion looked like a tomato.

Here in the States all basic sewing kits come with a tomato pin cushion that has an emery filled strawberry attached to it like this

Mary used to have one on the old home page as a sort of motif for SWN- though I am convinced that the strawberry is a chili pepper. No normal strawberry is that long and thin.

Hey Gina, I think the statistics are definitely wronggggg. I just joined in 2005 and you in 2001 but you have 49 more posts than me. You only posted 10+ times/yr before 2005. I think NOT!

Like I said my ticker was going backwards for awhile.
The first few years I belonged I didn't post a whole lot. We lived in Germany and paid by the minute for our internet access. Hubby set me a time limit if I remember correctly.
Then I was off boards for quite awhile last year 'cause my 'puters were going crazy. I should probably be a little more than double what I am now.

I wonder how far up in ranks I went as I have been a posting maniac these last couple days.

Some how I got two logins over the years. This one says 446 and the other one 357. But I think they were both reset at least once and I haven't been posting as much since they did.

I lost all my post at one time too and I was up to over 1000 at that time. At one time I lived on the boards, but since the hurricane, (I hate saying the name), I haven't had time to get on here much. All this traveling I have to do everyday. I went to Chalmette today to visit with one of my Mother's old friends and I have to tell you she has Jan's guts. She is in her late 70's and she rebuilt her home, bought all new furniture and redid her home down to the wooden studs. It's beautiful but what if another one comes again? She told me today if one comes I'll do it all again. This time she says a little better. Gotta give her lots of credit for having a hard head. This lady and her 85 year old husband along with her son that is close to 60 rebuilt it almost by themselves. Off subject here a little but our lives are upset and that's why I haven't posted as much as the rest of you.............but I bet I think of you all more than anyone else. Because you all are the BEST!!!!
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

thanks Julie - it was fun sitting in the staff room knitting with my guts at my feet. I don't have a photo of the knitted uterus - shame! It is amazing the patterns you find on the web.

A knitted uterus?? Oh how funny! I'll have to tell my mother in law about your projects. She knits (tried to teach me but I wasn't that good at it and stuck to sewing.) She makes it look SO easy but I guess I'm just not coordinated enough.
You should try to do a heart..that would be fun to do I imagine...with all of the arteries and such...LOL!

I just want to know how the heck you figured out the list Gina. I have visions of you sitting counting each one!!!! And I thought you were busy sewing!!!!! Now if you counted words, then I think Pam would win with her super duper explanations. But Dorothy, well, she's sweet and short.

OK it is really simple.

I just click up top where it says Members List and then I click where it says Posts and it sorts them for me from Greatest to Least. Takes all of about 2 seconds.
