I am SO frustated. Working on this blazer pattern. I quit yesterday because I was just wasn't getting it and then started up again this a.m. All of a sudden I got it and moved on. Now I don't get it AGAIN!

Just had an idea! (Wait a sec) Yes, Yes, Yes, I see what happened! There's an "Upper Collar and Front Facing" and there's also a "Front Interfacing" I used the first twice and never even cut out the second. HA!

So far I'm not terribly impressed with the Today's Fit by Sandra Betzina pattern. It's just not straight forward enough for my pea brain...........:whacky: :nc:

This won't be a tough fix - just time consuming. Isn't that usually the way............. Luckily I have enough fabric.

Thanks, Gina. Just getting away from the sewing for a minute to write that helped. The problem is still bigger than what I thought. I put it away till tomorrow. I'll be gone a good part of the day and will buy lining, etc. to finish the job.

Boy, things don't usually get to me that badly. I was grumpy to dh when he was home for an hour or so this afternoon and the animals are just on my nerves and they're not doing anything except wanting some attention.

Can we guess what's going on here???? :nc:

PMS   AARRGGHH

It wasn't immediately apparent.

Thanks for listening................Lennie :bluesad:

Maybe some lingering disappointment over some utterly unimportant sporting event that occurred yesterday as well? :bg:

Nah, I'm just sorry for the fans. I'm not a sports kind of person at all.

This is definitely PMS.................:re:

Have some chocolate Lennie and tackle the problem again tomorrow. Amazing how much easier something looks if you get away from it for a bit. Good luck, Would love to see the blazer when you are done.

Thanks for the commiseration everyone. I knew I could get some sympathy here. I feel better today, so far at least. It's still early. Some wine and a sweet husband can work miracles. :dave:

I WILL finish this blazer since I don't quit for something like this. I'll leave UFO's but not because they've defeated me..... It's to the death, I say!

As for a picture; I haven't tried posting pics yet but WHEN I finish this blazer I will figure that out, I promise.

Lennie --
I made a coat from a Sandra Betzina pattern and when it came time to do the lining it just said do it like the coat. But it wasn't cut at all like the coat.
It wasn't really difficult to figure out, but I thought that if someone wasn't very experienced in garment sewing it could be difficult. It was like they got to the lining and said "to heck with it." They had explained how to finish seams without lining very well.
My point is that you will figure it out. But you will have to do some thinking. For me that is always a bit of an issue.

Hi Lennie,

I'll do yours if you do my wonderous goof up of the week!A coat's gotta be easier than adding lenght to curtains....... Just finished a new set of curtains to go into the new windows that were put in my kitchen last month. I'm not sure where my brain was but discovered as I went to hang them up that I had put in the wrong hem length:mad: Looks like these would have fit the old shorter by three inch windows better......I found your message while having a break from that room....maybe a nice cottage style ruffle will work.

I often wonder if some of the more famous sewists forget that we're not all professionals? When they seem to take for granted that we all do things exactly the same way they have done them without any explaination of why, where, etc.

Better sewing days are coming to us.

Thanks for the encouragement. Dorothy, I totally agree with you. It's just going to take some thinking. I also know that I tend to zoooooooom through directions most of the time (okay, all of the time) because since I've got experience I think I can just look at a picture and do it. That's not always the case. Techniques can change, usually for the better and easier.

And Weezy, how about you shorten them even more and make cafe curtains? You can use the fabric that you cut off for the valance?? Would that work?

Hi Lennie,

Looks like I've not much choice but to do a cafe type curtain as I'll need to use some contrasting color somehow. It's amazing how many shades of white as well as changes in weaves I have in my stash! Oh well got all hems out and some pretty hunter green which will work. Not quite what I had in mind but do able.

How's the jacket coming???

It's coming. :re:

Today will tell if I've got it or not. I tore out some pieces and cut and interfaced the PROPER ones yesterday and with luck I should have the jacket itself done today if not the lining as well. We'll see.

I remain eternally optimistic.

Hope your curtains look alright. Do you have an embroidery machine to do some pretty edges maybe?

Hi Lennie,

The curtains got completed yesterday morning. I added a green ruffle as well as an inch wide stripe just below the top. Don't have an embrodiery machine bit added a couple of rows of fancy top stitching near the hem. Hubby approved so at least someone's totaly happy.

May the jacket come out as well as the curtains did,Weezie

Yay for you! May they have a long life hanging around.

Me? I'm still plugging away. The jacket just needs to be hemmed and today the lining.

I'm not thrilled with the whole thing although sewing wise it looks fine. I've decided I don't really care for the style and the fabric does absolutely NOTHING for me. Big sigh! I bought the fabric because it was a deal and I couldn't find anything else I liked.

Almost done though and I still might surprise myself and like it. I think a big part of it is that I never have worn a blazer so it's a whole new look for me. Hmmmm.
