I wrote in this thread (http://swn-archive.sew-whats-up.com/t-21241.html) that I was having trouble - actually *dreading* sewing - after being very sick, and having some UFOs (including a large, cumbersome job of 6 curtain panels). DorothyL wrote and said to "get rid" of the UFOs in my life. I'm thinking, OK... but I *can't* get rid of something I promised I'd do for someone. It was like this burden on me. Then I thought about it and inspiration struck. I called a friend and local professional seamstress and asked if she'd be willing to do the job. And she is! She is actually LOOKING for and ENJOYS this kind of home dec work! She is also very qualified and charges only a little more per hour as I do (I sew for pay very, very infrequently) and seemed happy for the business. And finally, she has more experience with this kind of fabric, which is one of the obstacles for this job - I knew it would really challenge me (NOT in a way I want to be challenged right now...) I think my husband thinks I'm nuts to do this. Now instead of me getting paid for a job I am "subletting" it to this friend But I know in this case it's really worth it! Having that particular job off of me, at this particular time, so I can be free to pursue something I really want to do - it feels like a huge blessing! So - thank you Dorothy and all others who wrote. I feel you all really helped me think outside the box! see the mundane life of a housewife.

Sometimes it is a good thing to pass something on...I did it on a project and it was the best thing I ever did!

Those projects torture you. They are always at the back of your mind driving you batty. To be free of it is a blessing!

wow! Isn't that terrific when something clicks? I can almost hear your sigh of relief, Blackie! I'll keep in mind the "sub-contracting" method of keeping my sanity. I'm too stubborn usually to admit that something is more than I can handle. I'm in the middle of a project like that now but I think I'm finally getting it. Yay for you and yay for Dorothy! Lennie |

What a relief Kelly - I had looked at your previous post with the brocade from hell and thought "I have No idea how to sew this."

Blackie glad to see you're beginning to feel better and anticipating getting back to your sewing. I know how a project that has you feeling overwhelmed can really be a drain on your energy and everything. Smart thinking to find the right person to subcontract it to. Patsy Patsy

Yay for you blackie!! I hate curtains... I'll make them for home 'cause I'm cheap but no way for anyone else (I don't care if my curtains are slightly crooked, I can't hang a rod straight either ) don't sew things you don't like, too much of a headache!! Jeanette
