I'd really like to sew my older dd's wardrobe for this spring/summer. She is a total girly-girl and loves to change clothes frequently. After reading these forums (and while waiting to get registered) I ordered the rodondo skirt pattern and matching hermosa top pattern. I'm thinking about choosing 3 prints and 2 solids and making everything mix & match. I'm just not sure of quantities. I'd like to keep it pretty minimal, but I also want her to have some variety. I'm thinking shorts/capris that she can wear under dresses/skirts or on their own. I'll probably buy some rtw t-shirts. Share your thoughts and ideas Please! Thanks, Ashlea Ashlea

Check out this article it is for adults but I think it also works for kids. http://sew-whats-new.com/CMS/content/view/181/46/ My girl(8) is a skirt/dress girl. So what I have done to start is 5 tops 2-3 shorts/pants bottoms 2 dress 2 skirts I like Jumper type dresses that she can wear with or without a shirt. I usually try for at least one pair of long pants (she hates that so sometimes they are just hand me downs from her brother). I like simple things without a lot of embellishement that can be played up easily with added one thing etc. Sherri My website

My girly-girl won't wear jumpers (at least not the a-line or straight type), no twirl factor. But she just started wearing long pants once in a while. I guess some full skirted jumpers would work. She also likes halter style and those could be worn over a t, short or long sleeved. Good thought.

If she likes the twirl factor. Why not make the basic jumper top with a twirl skirt (http://sew-whats-new.com/CMS/content/view/211/46/) on the bottom.

Don't forget matching shorts to go under those dresses and skirts. My 6 year old isn't allowed to wear a skirt or dress without shorts underneath.
