I overheard someone talking about a disappearing 9-patch. I did not have time for them to explain what this is. More curious than anything about it. Thanks, J Jay

http://softexpressions.com/software/books/DisapNinePh.php Could this possibly be what they were referring to in their posts? It would be the pattern of the nine patch when placed with other patterns looses the original nine patch effect creating a different pattern. Possibly could disappear with color configurations also.... Patty

Thanks, Patty, for your explanation. I had seen the picture of the pattern book, but it still didn't give me a sense of what it meant. J Jay

http://hometown.aol.com/qltblockcenter/bombeg/0009.html Maybe this site will give you a better idea of the theory behind the block disappearing..... read all the way through and then there are diagrams of how the blocks are set together. Rotating the blocks creates a different appearance causing the original block design to somewhat disappear (or make it difficult to pick out). Hope this helps a little better. Patty

Oh I really like that site! It's on my desktop now, cause I find if I just bookmark it, I never seem to go back to it. Thanks! Laura

Several people were talking about the Disappearing Little 9-Patch block. At my Lima Guild retreat in January we received instructions on how to do this pattern. I did not get to work on this project at the time, but my sister completed her's and it looks great. Hope to have my top done by the next meeting. |
