I was at the sewing/crafting/quilting show today, checked out everyone's embroidery machines...ended up trying to decide between the Singer XL6000 and the Janome 350e. Was leaning towards the Singer one but remembered the bad experience I had with the dealer when I had problems with my 9940 right out of the box (once I got nasty and got a new machine out of the box I've not had a problem since with it) so was not inclined to spend a lot of money there plus they didn't offer convenient classes. So....went back and re-looked at the Janome. I think it will do what I want plus I got the customizer 11000 to go with it so am hoping I did the right thing. Plus it was $2000 less in the long run and I really didn't need another sewing machine which the XL6000 is also. Looking for some input on the machine as well as the customizer program. Likes, dislikes, ease of use, etc. My machine is on layaway so if I did the wrong thing I can change it still! LOL Thanks. Lyn

I have a 350e for about a month. I am new at this but have done several dozen monograms. It is amazing. Simple to set up and use, even with my fat fingers the automatic threader solves that problem. I hope to do more cliparts etc. In the future I don't foresee any problem except changing threads. Lots of luck |

THe Janome is a very popular embroidery machine. I think you'll be quite satisfied. The 5X7 stitch field is a much more comfortable size than 4X4...but no size is ever large enough (keep that in mind). I'm sure you'l find MANY more happy owners. They also make the Bernina embroidery only machine.

I think you will be very happy with 350E. I have its predecessor the Janome 300E, and absolutely love it. It is user-friendly and stitches out great. I don't have Customizer though - I have Embird. I love Embird - it can do everything - and I believe it is quite a bit cheaper than Customizer. I do not think you will be disappointed with thie 350E. |

Thanks for your input ladies. Claire I went with the customizer because they have someone who teaches their program along with the machine usage so figured it was easier..Not sure what embird costs but paid $700 for the customizer and compared to some prices I was getting at the show from various dealers it didn't seem to be out of line-in fact, much cheaper than other brands/dealers. I'm excited to get started but have decided to leave the machine in lay-a-way a couple months as I'm getting ready to move in March and it's one less machine I need to deal with moving but...we'll see.........I might need to treat myself early! I have the 300E and the Digitizer10000 I love mine. If you have any questions, I'll help you as best I can. ITs really easy to use and stitches quite nice. May your bobbin always be full-

thank you! I'll keep you in mind...I'm going to try and leave it in lay-a-way until after I move cuz I know if I get it now, I'm going to want to play and I have to pack! LOL But...I'm sure i"ll have questions along the way.

One thing to remember when you get your machine and software is that the 350e is not on the packaged CD that comes with Customizer (at least not on mine). You have to get the update from the Janome site and it is the update to the Customizer 10000 plus. The Customizer 11000 is only for the MC 11000 machine. You have to load the 10000 plus version of the software on the CD and then apply the 350e upgrade. You will know you have the right version if the Customizer program gives you the EastyImport, EasyEdit and EasyGigahoop versions. I made the mistake and loaded the Customizer 11000 thinking I had the updated version since I did not see a 350e machine to choose from. Have fun |

Thank you SSparkle.....they didn't tell me that, just said I should get the 11000 so it could be upgraded. I will ask about it when I pick up my machine & software

I have a 300E and Customizer. It is a very difficult programme to master and Embird is WAY above. Save yourself money and time and do not buy it! |

I have a 300E and Customizer. It is a very difficult programme to master and Embird is WAY above. Save yourself money and time and do not buy it! Dear Franz I found your comment most interesting as I have just spent days trying to figure out Customizer. A friend has suggested I go for Embird. I have a Janome 300E and was trying to put a poem into Customizer and gave up in the end. I have it on the machine but find that with the writing vertical (to fit it in) I am just about standing on my head to look at the screen and my neck hurts! So that is why I was trying to put it into Customizer. Any ideas anyone please? Thanks Gaya |
