Just an FYI -- not encouraging anyone:bg: but when I was at my local Joann fabrics today, they had all of their "value priced" fabric, which typically sells from $1-$5 on sale at $1.00 per yard, no matter what!!!! I only spent $20 on fabric, as I had truly gone to purchase thread for my serger. The sale is from Jan. 27 to Feb. 3. When I asked the woman cutting the fabric, why they had such a sale going on, she said that they are desperate to move the fabric as the Spring stuff will be in the store within a few weeks and they had no room.

I bought some panels -- diaper bags -- for my daughter to cut out and sew. Figured it wiould be good experience for her, and they were very simple. Also, some flannel/felt Easter bag panels, and a couple of baby quilt ones.

Sadly, they were out of Christmas fabric -- although last weekend they had about 100 bolts or more, and had a special section because there was so much left from the holiday season.

I went yesterday, and spent 14 bucks on fabric. After running some other errands, I had left the fabric in the car. A few hours later, I took my 6 year old to buy a newspaper. When she got out of the car she said "You said we couldn't buy anymore fabric. Why did you buy more? "
Nabbed by a 6 year old. :dave:

My fabric always goes straight to the laundry room. Not much chance anyone besides me will be in that room. :re:

Peggy, I think I really need to kick myself. I read your post, meant to stop by JoAnn's yesterday when I was in the area and decided not to since I had so many other errands to run.

Today my daughter went to JoAnn's. I told her I'd make her another apron for work. She is NOT a sewer but boy oh boy, did she go on about the deals JoAnn's had.

She ended up with 1 1/2 yds of a normally priced $12.00 per yd. fabric for only $5.+ . And that was including a spool of thread! And I felt guilty about not getting the 40% off coupon to her before she went. (Couldn't have used it anyway being a sale item.)

I may make it yet. I assume the sale is through the weekend.

You're right there Bama! Although, my dh does do the laundry but my fabric goes to the fabric pile that has to be washed before it's used and the amount put directly into the checkbook register as a debit on the ATM card. We've had our uh "discussions" about my sewing/quilting and not much is said these days. The reason the comments are kept to a very minimum is that my dh has an account at New Egg for all things computer related and I know for a fact that a hefty amount is spent every month on what he considers computer necessities, i.e. radio controlled miniature helicopters that I've seen flying around the house from time to time lately. The difference between men and boys is the price of their "toys".

Yeah...my husband tries to make me feel bad about buying embroidery designs on the web...but I just look at him and say...you know those -2- new computers you just bought with all the extras....then he shuts up.

My DH only knows about the fabric I've bought since around Sept. of last year, when I was making other projects. He has no idea of the size of my stash in the basement. And while he doesn't complain, I think he'd be floored at what I truly have!:bg: However, I could just point out all of the hunting & fishing stuff he has, and the variety -- Spring stuff, Fall Stuff, winter stuff, etc.!:dave:

I always have to remind my hubby that his woodworking tools cost alot more than my fabric does. When he's on occasion pointed out the "untidiness" of my sewing room, I remind him that he has a WHOLE workshop, yet I have just one little room that I have to share with dd when she used the computer or works on school projects. :dave: That usually shuts him up.
As for fabric, I think he believes I got all of it for $1 a yard. :bg:

Oh ladies,
I am considering myself lucky when I read your posts. My hubby doesn't complain. I have a small stach and maybe he will begin to say something when it starts to get bigger. I mostly sew for gifts nowadays and he sees a purpose for that. Plus, he FARMS and STEERS and COWS cost a lot more than my stuff ;) Oh lets not forget about the new tractor he bought. We both have our enjoyments and he is pretty gracious when I bring home stuff. He knows that I only purchase on sale! BUT ohhhhh, I can't wait to get there tomorrow!!! I am going to Minneapolis and they have the Etc. Stores there which is a LOT bigger than my lil store I usually go to! PAY DAY TODAY TOO!!! whoohoooo!!!

Cowqueenie, I'm with you. My hubby so far has not complained, and even agreed with me spending a huge amount of money on my sewing machine. My kids are the ones who comment about my stash.
But I would certainly feel better if I could use up some of my stash.

I didn't post right away mostly because I forgot I told everyone I was going!
I found some good deals on some VERY beautiful EXPENSIVE fabrics that were 70% off. They were beautiful! I did find some more I thought were less but had to put them away because for what I am using them for I couldn't pay that much. :( I found some lining fabrics for the totes and purses I am making and they are adorable cotton fabrics at $1 a yard. DEAL OF THE CENTURY!!! WHOOOHOOO!! I talked to my mom and she was in Vegas and there was little there on sale but she said her store is very tiny. I got a coupon in the mail for one item at 50% off!!! This week only. I have two actually because my mom got one too but since she won't get it in time through their cart and pony mail system out in the dessert I get to use that one too! Don't think it will be too hard to use it on something. :)
