Okay, can someone tell me anything about Elgin Sewing Machines? We have one, but cannot find any instructions or info on it. I have tried searching the web, but haven't found anything useful, except that the machine might be antique. I'm pretty sure it's not an antique -- of course, it depends on what some consider antique anyway Thanks for any info! Peggy

Elgin was just a brand name. It was probably made by National in Belvedere, IL or New Home in Rockford, IL. If it's a round bobbin straight stitch made by one of these two, a Natl has a long 20X1 needle, and if a NH, it has a short 40F1/38Y1 needle. Bill Holman |

Thanks Bill! Since my own machine had to go in the shop, I thought I'd investigate some of the older ones I have sitting around, and make them useful again! I'll take it out of the cabinet to get model number etc., as I will nee to find instructions for threading anyway.
