I wrote an answer on the post you put in the 'wrong' section...

No, Janome only cards can be read only by Janomes and since your 9000 is a .sew and your 300 is a .jef, the 300 cannot read your cards. You also can't convert them. (see above). If you had your designs on CD's. THEN you could buy software to convert .sew to .jef and have your designs.

Janome DID have a thing going where you could get your designs converted from card to CD.
I don't know if it's still running..

Thankyou Chrys, I'll inquire at my local Janome . I love my 9000 designs, they also are of great quality stitching.

there are certain reader writer boxes that will read a number of different cards and formats and will allow you to save those designs to your laptop,... hten you could write them to a cd... hte one that comes to mind is named something like pes2card3 or something similar... a friend has it and used it to convert some old ELNA cards for my aunt when she switched from an Elna machine to a janome...

The newer Magic Boxes (Universal Translator) will read the card, save it to the hard drive and then write to CD.

I have several designs in other formats for my 300E. I just import them to my Digitizer and save them as a jef. Do you have any program that will let you do that?

Thankyou JustSewCrafty, I don't have a digitizer, I can convert any format once I have it on the computer, but it is getting these memory cards onto the computer.

I have dropped them off to Janome, the new owner, daughter of previous owner cheekily said they were before her time ,but will check with her mum. I have to pick up my 300E as she is upgrading it to recognise my giga hoop. Will let you know the outcome

Thankyou Tom also.

Sad news from Janome, they don't have the equipment to do it. I'll research the Magic Box. thanks to everyone.

Thanks mamadus I googled it and they are about $550-$600 here in Australia. The problem is I wouldn't have any use for it after I converted my memory cards. Probably I need to find someone with the pes2card3, magic box, or the janome customizer 200 and pay to have them converted.
Thankyou all so much for all your trouble, much appreciated.

I was just reading your messages and have a question. I have the Janome 300E and the software I use is buzz tools catalog. Can you with the 9,000 also get designs of different formats from the internet and use a sandisk pc card adapter with a compact flashcard? If so, why couldn't you change the format to sew from there? Just trying to help. Connie:bg:

Catfrog, I want the actual m/c designs[from cards I have]because I find Janome designs stitch beautifully & I want to be able to embroider these designs on the 300E. I have 487 m/c 8000 designs on disk that came with my 300E. I can download, convert, & write for my 300E.

sounds like your best bet is to check with your local embroidery group or your dealer and see if they know of anybody who has a box that will read your older cards for you so they can be written to a cd... it appears taht converting them is the least of the situation...

Yes mamadus, I've checked with my Janome dealer, they can't help. I'll put an add in the local paper, thankyou.

Updating your cards is usually a courtesy the selling dealer performs. Check with your dealer and see if he/she won't use their box to convert them for you. If not, next time you buy a machine make sure that service is included in purchase.

What you say Tom is very interesting, about 6mths before I bought my 300E, I was inquiring about it, and I am sure they said then they would write the m/c to disk for a fee, but free if you bought the 10000.
They have changed hands,& they say they don't have anything that fits these cards.
I rang Janome in the next town, and they say they can't do it either, and also said m/c9ooo cards can't be done.

Ithink you just have to find the right box.... the cards that my friend converted for my aunt, were old ELNA cards,,, not new by any means,,, so I'm betting that there is a box that will read those cards...
