Have you tried looking on Ebay? I noticed they have several listings for that. |

embroideryonline.com has black and it may have flesh colored too, depending on the type that you are trying to locate.

Talking about stabilizers, does anyone have any comments about Vilene? I've ordered some to try out - my link on tracking my order says that it should be delivered on Monday. I've been using the Ultra Solvy for FSL and it does pretty well, but seems to stretch on stitch-intensive designs, so I thought I would try the Vilene. It is recommended by the website that I'm planning on buying a design from for a evening purse with a FSL flap.

I'm having trouble locating black cut away stabilizer. Anyone got a good source? Allstitch as black cut away in a couple different types. They have great service and good prices, too. http://www.allstitch.net/s_ascb.html http://www.allstitch.net/s_xs22b.html If you click on "Sample Request" they'll send you a free large selection of samples of the different stabilizers they carry to help you decide which types are best. |

I usually use Badgemaster for FSL but I understand that Villene works well. It is the same as Aquamesh wash away stabilizer which pretty durable from what I've heard. Aquamesh is a pretty nice stabilizer. I was told to use Badgemaster and have always been happy with that so I use AM for most projects (cheaper) and Badgemaster for FSL and major projects.

Claress, Allstitch is where I ordered the Vilene from. Also ordered a white and black cone of the bobbin thread and a Madeira color chart. When I received the receipt they emailed to me, they had included the catalog and backing samples. This is my first order from this source. I put in my order on Wednesday and if UPS had delivery on Saturday, I'd have it in my hands today. That's really GOOD SERVICE! Ann C

Brothersmall2 is where I bought my Madera thread chest. I had planned to order it from Allstitch which was a FANTASTIC price but Brothersmall (PAS store) had them beat by $50. The shipping on the thread box was extended because they order it straight from the factory and then it is shipped BUT the things I ordered on Monday were here on Wed morning...I was pretty amazed. They have Allstitch beat on the individual spools of thread too. They will also include the spool caps if you request them with your order. At Allstitch they are an extra charge. I haven't really looked at their site for stabilizers but it is a great source for thread and they do have stabilziers. http://www.brothermall2.com/PASindex.asp?mscssid=BM2072177533102004569 pam

Paroper, I've been buying my thread from Brother Mall too, but I couldn't find the black bobbin thread on their site, so ordered it from Allstitch since I already was ordering the Vilene that Brother doesn't carry either. At $2.15 per large spool of Madeira Rayon, you can't beat their prices and their service is great. A few months ago I ordered 10 spools of thread and there must have been some sort of computer glitch, because when it came in, they were each in its own box! Cost them almost $5.00 to ship each one! I'll bet if they finally caught what was going on, someone who keyed something wrong really got chewed out - or maybe it was a new employee who wasn't well trained. Ann C

That's pretty strange about the packaging. I buy "stuff" all over and I have purchased from Allstitch. I hadn't attempted to order bobbin thread from Brothermall (I don't buy that very often). I found the customer service at Brother Mall to be really good.

I always use vilene for fsl... I only use solvy when I need a water soluble topping... for me, vilene just works much better for fsl... I think it provides a better base... MO life is too short, not to explore

Exactly what is Badgemaster? Is it a film similar to Ultra Solvy or is it a different type? I've heard others talking about it but I've never seen it. The only thing I can find locally are the Sulky ones and a new type - I can't remember the name of them, but they are at Joann's now and I'm not even sure that brand has a wash-away type.

Badgemaster is like a faily heavy plastic. It washes away but it doesn't just immediately dissolve in water so that you have some control in how much is removed. It is clear-cloudly in color.
