So, I made a couple of twirl skirts for Christmas presents, and found a great way to do it.

I went down to Joann's and bought a couple of the fat eighths rolls. I ironed it all flat, and then stuck them in a bag. I randomly drew them out to sew them together and then just put it through my gathering foot. The whole thing took less than a couple of hours.

One of the ones I made was for my Mom, and that took about 4 of the fat eighths rolls. All in all, it was a pretty cool project.

I saw a similar thing done using bandannas. It looked really nice...very colourful. It was an online project from Bernina(I think). Now for the life of me, I can't find the link.

I did download and print the project, but I can't find that either! :whacky: No problem, I remember how it was done...I think.
Take care,
Donna

Fat eighth rolls? I tried to Google it and got a bunch of diet bread recipies. What are these items of which you speak?

I didn't really notice the word 'rolls' before...so, the bandana skirt is probably not similar. I think the bandanas are cut into halves, or quarters, and the pieces are randomly sewn together, first into strips of increasing length, then gathered and sewn into rows.

Joann's has the rolls. they are fat 1/8th's presented in a roll to look like a jelly roll, rather than folding like a fat 1/4.

Ticia, I'd love to see pics too!
