Many of you know that I work with children who have autism. This year I am trying to get a team together for the Autism Speaks walk for autism research. My daughter, granddaughter and I will be attending a lunch tomorrow about the walk which is in April. The following pictures are of a pin I am making for everyone who walks with us, an eyeglass holder made with the autism ribbon and an outfit for my granddaughter.

Very nice, I love the outfit. Autism is a major topic in our family as well.

Carol that is great. I have worked with a child with autism. It was very stressful. I hope you have great success in your effort to raise awarness.
Bless you

My son has aspergers which is similar to autism (some say a milder form of) so I'd like to say thank you to you for your efforts to raise awareness.

We don't have (yet) any campaigns such as this in Australia but I'll certainly keep my eyes open for the ribbons - they really catch the eye and you've combined them nicely with the outfit.

Carol, whre did you get the ribbon? I am helping fundraise for someone who is doing the "cure autism now" walk in May. I'd love to find some ribbon, possibly locally.

BTW - beautiful items!

Wow, I love hearing from other people involved in raising awareness about autism (really I'm sitting here teary eyed). Also thank you everyone for the compliments on my sewing.
I purchased the ribbon locally at Ragshop and Joann Fabrics. I also saw it at AC Moore a few months ago when I was visiting in South Carolina. I have occassionally seen some on ebay.
There are also several websites that sell premade items with the autism ribbon logo, the one I have ordered from is www.autism-awareness.com.
I don't know of any organizations in Australia either, but there are some in the UK and Canada, hopefully there will be more in other countries as well, since autism is not restricted to the USA, UK and Canada.
Thank you again and to those of you living with autism you have my admiration and prayers.

I've heard you mention him from time to time. I believe he also has ADHD as well? My 11 yo has both Aspergers and ADD (no H as he is not hyperactive thank goodness). We seem to be doing okay with the ADD (he takes medication and there are many useful strategies) but are still struggling a lot with the social dilemmas that aspergers brings. We are very lucky though and changed his primary (elementary for you I think) school last year and are having an excellent year this year for his last year before high school.
