Hey all. I was wondering. I would like to have a online place I could go to --to look up things to refresh my memory on basic sewing tehinques I may have forgotten. For instance. like the proper way to make darts. also this is a really dum question too. I have always had problems with math and rulers. Is there a place that can show me how to read rulers.? Do you understand what I am trying to ask about the ruler.? Lol I have learning problems. And a lot of times I forget. I am 52. I have made 9 full size quilts by myself. I love to make cotton skirts for myself for summer. and I love to make aprons. Thanks for your helping me. Pinkroses. I know I have a guradian angel watching over me. I am very gratefull. PINKROSES

dear pinkroses. you might try getting a subscription to SEW STYLISH a new magazine by the publishers of Threads. they assume the reader is a beginner and show all the basics and lots of explanations. i have been sewing for quite a few years but am self-taught so missed out on alot of how-toos and the correct way of doing many sewing techniques. the magazine is very attractive and less expensive than Threads - i love my copy and intend to subscribe. and keep my copies as a learning resource. You can subscribe on the Threads site or Taunton press. |

Welcome, pink. I'd also add to the list of resources that you can always do a search on this site for past threads. Some discussions resurface every so often, and there are so many people that visit, you can find lots of approaches to solve a problem. Also the Threads website has a Search feature. Here's a video tip (http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/tvt003.asp) they provide about darts. Maybe you could tell us more about what you're after with rulers, and we can give you some leads for that too.

Pinkroses, I know how you feel. I've gotten pretty comfortable with my seam gauge, and the marks on my cutting mat. But put a line on the little marks of a utility tape measure and see me hyperventilate.

temom. that is a good idea. Hey, I looked up how to read a ruler too and found that. I just didn't think to look for the basic information. When I was in school I had learning problems. and no body really took the time to find out how to help me. Math was a big problem for me. So was reading at one time. I did find help for the the reading problems and now love to read. I am a Christian writer. I write poems, deveotionals and short stories. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions. Pinkroses I know I have a guradian angel watching over me. I am very gratefull. PINKROSES

dear pinkroses i can empathize with your history as i had the same problems growing up. Never was able to understand math and had great difficulty learning to read-but once i did, thanks to one particular teacher, i never looked back. I love to read it is one of my favourite things to do. THANK YOU MISS BEDFORD(my teacher) where ever you are. |
