I have done counted cross stitch for many years. I would like to try it on my machine. I am considering the Embird Cross stitch or Pattern Maker. Does anyone use these? Any opinions?

I don't have either of those programs but I have the Bernina (Artista) V5 Designer Plus and have used the cross stitch portion of that in both V4 and 5. I really enjoy it! It is much faster than doing it manually even if you count your own. You can also "cheat" and scan the design in if you wish. As far as doing the cross stitch in the software, if it is anything like mine, I think you'll really enjoy the option!

I have the pattern maker for cross stitch program for machine embroidery... I have to confess I haven't done a whole lot with it yet, so I"m really not much help... sorry... let us know what you decide... question.. have you done any cross stitch designs on your machine already? Vermillion Stitchery has some very nice designs...

I have tried a few small cross stitch designs. I looked at the ones at Vermillion and they are really beautiful. I think I will try one this weekend.
But I think that Pattern Maker will let you scan in any cross stitch graph you have and convert it to machine stitching. At least that is what I understand from reading etc. I have many graphs that I have purchased over the years that I never got to. It would be great to be able to do them by machine.

Just one thing about the machine cross stitch...I have one that I did by machine hanging next to a beautiful picture that my husband did by hand. There is no comparison in texture. The machine stitching that I mapped out in one night and stitched the next is absolutely perfect and tight. The one that my husband did over a period of about 2 years has so much texture and is so much prettier.

However, I absolutely LOVE doing the machine cross stitch!
